468. The Death of Stormfront!
468. The Death of Stormfront!
The uncontrollable Stormfront plummeted rapidly from the sky, black smoke billowing from her body as it formed a trail in the air.
Losing her balance, she desperately tried to grab onto something, but the paralysis from the lightning made all her resistance futile.
Stormfront couldn't comprehend what she was experiencing. How was it that, as someone who could control lightning, she was struck down so badly by a bolt of lightning?
She had always thought of herself as a god, but now, for the first time, she realized how insignificant humans were compared to nature.
She couldn't fathom how that man had caused such a terrifying celestial phenomenon. Her mind was in disarray, and the howling wind around her only made it harder to focus.
As she was about to hit the ground, Stormfront finally panicked. Falling from such a height, even if she were a superpowered being, she would be reduced to a pile of broken flesh.
With great effort, she forced her aching arms to move, channeling her powers once more. Purple lightning surged across her arms, and the powerful repulsive force and magnetic fields generated considerable resistance, slowing her descent.
However, the energy only lasted for about five seconds before vanishing, leaving Stormfront's body to hover briefly in mid-air. Gravity took hold, and she crashed into the ground, leaving a scorched mark on the lawn.
At this moment, Stormfront had no trace of her former majestic image. Her battle suit, already torn in her fight with Lamplighter, was now completely ruined after the massive impact, exposing her burned skin.
Her exposed skin had been scorched, her body covered in soot, and her battle suit emitted thick smoke, leaving her barely recognizable as a human.
Shaking, she lifted her arm. Though badly wounded, the earlier cushioning and her superhuman constitution had narrowly saved her life.
Now, all Stormfront wanted was to leave. She had to survive; as long as she did, no matter whether it was Lamplighter or that strange man, she could always make them pay.
However, as she struggled to rise, a massive explosion suddenly erupted behind her, sending flames into the sky and thick smoke billowing everywhere.
Stormfront looked back in shock to see half of the Sage Grove Center building engulfed in flames, black smoke rising into the sky.
At the entrance, a man engulfed in teal-green flames slowly emerged from the fire. Behind him, a group of superpowered individuals also freed themselves, quickly advancing toward her.
"Whoo whoo..."
Seeing this, Stormfront was startled but immediately forced her body to move in the opposite direction.
Unfortunately, though her life had been spared, her right leg had been broken in the fall. She tried to run, but no matter how hard she tried, she could only limp forward.
Blood dripped steadily onto the grass, and with her injured leg, she had no hope of outrunning the superpowered beings behind her.
In less than twenty meters, the superpowered group, led by Lamplighter, had already caught up and surrounded her.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Looking at Stormfront, who was barely recognizable, everyone in the group was filled with murderous intent, wishing they could slice her into a thousand pieces.
They would never forget what this woman had done to them over the years.
Out of selfish desire, she had captured them from around the world, torturing their bodies and breaking their spirits in every possible way.
Cindy could never forget how this racist supremacist woman treated her and the others, treating them like livestock.
Slowly raising her hand, Cindy's eyes flashed with hatred.
"You like to run, don't you?"
In the next instant, both of Stormfront's legs exploded, and she collapsed to the ground.
Her face hit the grass with a dull thud, and Stormfront let out a groan, but soon, she began to laugh lowly, and the laughter grew louder.
The other superpowered individuals exchanged confused glances, not understanding why this evil woman was still laughing at a time like this.
"What are you laughing at?" Lamplighter, having extinguished the flames around him, stood in front of Stormfront.
Though his clothes had been burned to dust, no one paid attention to that. All eyes were focused on Stormfront.
"You... you think this is the end?"
Stormfront's voice trembled as she forced each word from her throat.
"Vought won't let you get away with this. You filth, garbage, animals... you deserve to rot in the gutter. And you, Lamplighter, you should know Edgar's methods. You will die a miserable death."
"If these are your last words, I'm rather disappointed," said Lamplighter, looking at Stormfront with disgust. He then stepped forward, grabbed her shoulders, and lifted her up.
"You know, I've wanted to kill you for a long time, you filthy b**** Surprised? I've known your background ever since you joined the Seven when you were with the A-Train. I've been waiting for this day for a long time," Lamplighter sneered.
"Do you think you're a hero?" Stormfront scoffed. "Go ahead and kill me. Let's see if this world will get any better."
With that, Stormfront closed her eyes, grinning as she waited for her death.
"Open your eyes."
Lamplighter shouted angrily.
"You like watching life slip away, don't you? Why don't you watch your own life fade away now? Where I come from, demons like you only have one end."
With that, Lamplighter's hands ignited with flames.
"That is the death by fire!"
Raging flames erupted and instantly enveloped Stormfront's body, crackling with fiery explosions.
Gritting her teeth, Stormfront endured the intense pain, her eyes wide open as she stared at the sky. But soon, the smoky sensation made her eyes sting with unbearable heat.
As her vision blurred, Stormfront's body was burned to a crisp, her form collapsing onto the ground, leaving only charred remnants.
After finishing this, Lamplighter breathed heavily, clearly exhausted.
The surrounding superpowered individuals couldn't help but shed tears. They felt a sense of relief as the long-standing nightmare weighing on their hearts was finally lifted. They felt much lighter.
"Well done."
At this moment, a lighthearted voice came from behind them.
Lamplighter turned to look and saw Alex had somehow appeared nearby, walking slowly toward them.
"Thanks to you, if she had tried to run, I wouldn't have been able to stop her on my own," Lamplighter sighed and responded.
Earlier, just as he was preparing to face Stormfront in a final showdown, she unleashed a massive burst of lightning, causing a building to collapse, making it difficult for him to defend.
After barely escaping, Lamplighter encountered a few superpowered individuals who had also escaped. These lunatics, knowing that Lamplighter was the guard of Sage Grove Center, immediately attacked him on sight.
No matter how much he tried to explain, the mentally unstable attackers didn't stop and continued their assault. Ultimately, Lamplighter had no choice but to detonate half the building, killing everyone who had tried to attack him.
Now, the remaining superpowered individuals were mentally more stable and were willing to fight alongside him to deal with Stormfront.
"Friends, this is Crow, our leader, and the only one who can overthrow the Vought Corporation."
Lamplighter took a piece of clothing from Cindy, putting it on as he introduced Alex to the group.
"Crow, this is Cindy, Kash, Rachel, Alex, and Sue."
Alex glanced at each of their faces and nodded silently.
Having already reviewed their files, Alex knew their powers. Cindy's ability was telekinesis, allowing her to instantly explode anything with her mind.
Kash's power was levitation, though he couldn't reach the speed of sound yet. Rachel's power was vomiting sulfuric acid, a rather unpleasant ability. Alex's power was super strength, just about on par with Queen Maeve.
As for Sue, her ability was to manipulate electromagnetic devices, generating powerful magnetic fields that could overload nearby electrical equipment.
Looking at these individuals, Alex's first thought was of the Suicide Squad. Aside from Cindy, who had some combat ability, the others were almost entirely useless.
Still, it was impressive that he had managed to save so many of them, especially given their unstable mental states.
Sensing the fear and wariness they felt toward him, Alex understood that after all the torment they had suffered under Vought Corporation, they were extremely averse to "power" and "organizations."
Getting them back to being normal people would take a long time.
"Nice to meet you all, I'm Crow. I know what you've been through, and I also know you all want to live a normal life."
Then Alex's tone shifted.
"But you should also know, the Vought Corporation will never let you go. It was they who brought you here, and they certainly won't just let you walk away. As long as Vought exists, you won't be able to return to your lives."
"Do you want us to help you deal with the Homelander and the Seven?" Cindy spoke up.
It seemed that despite being locked away, they still had some knowledge of the outside world and the superheroes, given that they had been arranged as "supervillains" by Vought Corporation.
"No, I'll handle those guys myself."
Alex smiled and said in a deep voice.
"I want you to replace the Seven and become the new superheroes."
