Birth Of The Crafts-God

Chapter 150 Lily's Suspicions

"Thank you for the help." The captain said to Lily.

"Don't mention it. We are here to help." Lily responded as she glanced around.

"I'm sorry we didn't make it on time." Lily said with a heavy voice.

She could easily make out the fact that the company has lost a lot of men. A unit of sixty-four soldiers now remained only twenty two. One could imagine how gruesome the earlier battle must have been.

"Don't worry about it. It wasn't your fault. Let's leave this sad matter for later. The main task at hand is to get these people to a safe place."

The captain pointed at the civilians that were rescued. There were initially about fifty of them, but more than half had died in the course of retreating, leaving behind just twenty-four.

"Our shuttle is down so I hope you can help them."

"Don't worry. We have a mechanic with us. As long as the shuttle isn't turned to scrap, he should be able to get it running." Lily comforted.

"Okay. In that case, I'll relinquish the command of my unit to you. I need to take a break for now."

While Lily was weaker than the captain and of lower rank, she was a member of the Red Fangs so it was possible for her to take command of the company, especially considering it was much weaker than it should be.

Lily nodded and didn't debate the motion. The captain clearly needed his rest. At the same time, it didn't matter whether or not she was in command of the surviving soldiers, as her team was all she needed to handle any threat.

"How did this happen? Can you brief me on it?" Lily asked Holler, who was the lieutenant and second-in-command of the company.

"The name of this village is Southvale village. We are on patrol and the region around Southvale village and two others are under our jurisdiction. During the late hour dog yesterday, we discovered signs of desolate beasts on our radar system which we found strange, but not entirely out of the ordinary.

As you know, the desolate beasts wave is at Garena town right now, but even with the barrier set up around the town, some of the beasts manage to escape, which is why we carry out patrols of the surrounding regions.

"At first, there were only just a few avian desolate beasts so we fought them off with our sare shuttle. However, more started gathering at our location almost as if they were attracted here by something. In the end, the force grew to a size three times our company."

"Wait."

Lily was surprised by the statement, and hurried to stop Holler.

Three times a company was one hundred and ninety-two (192). There was no way that many desolate beasts would be wandering outside the black box perimeter and not be noticed by the outpost.

It was either there was a negligence of duty from the outpost, or the desolate beasts appeared out of nowhere. As for equipment malfunctioning? In this situation, that would be impossible. Every equipment used in the outpost was of high grade and properly maintained, because any failure resulting from it could potentially cause the loss of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of lives.

Suddenly, Lily narrowed her eyes as one more possibility crossed her mind; one she refused to believe but had to admit was likely to be true. The existence of a spy.

Coming into Alleva district, the entire idea that a large wave of desolate beasts appeared out of nowhere and destroyed a city and a large town was entirely surreal. It was unbelievable, and so, many theorists, biologists, military tacticians and so on tried to figure out how such had happened.

Some claimed that the monsters came from underground why others suggested that there might have been a desolate beast habitat hidden away from public notice that had expanded over the years. This idea was plausible as it had been a long time since a proper sweep of the district had been carried out.

Regardless of which conjecture was thought up, there was not enough evidence to reach a conclusion on it. However, one military tactician had thought up an alternative occurrence. He believed that this was the work of the terrorists, and he has his reasons.

During the last assault, terrorists had displayed that they could facilitate spatial movement. The Evonika-Hyuman crossbreed, Ginon, and the Saurian, Mikolos, [1] had escaped the scene using a space-bomb. Space-bombs were high-grade weapons that could create a distortion in space-time.

If created with destruction in mind, it would be a devastating weapon as it could create a black hole after detonation. Due to such destructive prowess, space-bombs were banned on a solar system level and made illegal by the Federation Assembly.

However, space-bombs could also be used for other functions apart from violence. A space-bomb could create a wormhole if the space within the distortion is stabilised to some extent, although the destination of the wormhole would be random within a certain radius. If one found a way to set coordinates, it could then be used to transport something over.

The military tactician who claimed that this was a terrorist act believed that they had managed to figure out how to set coordinates for space-bombs and had transported the desolate beasts tide over there Alleva district. This man was the Red Fangs director, and he based this knowledge from Lieutenant Lily's report after her battle with Ginon.

Despite the possibility of this suspicion being valid, it was rejected by the majority as they believed that the terrorists in Eretre were incapable of possessing such technology. Forget about rh terrorists, even the Oklo Dynasty's military —the number one military force on the planet— didn't have such space-bombs.

From this, one could infer that it was impossible, if not outrageous, to think that some rag-tag terrorists had access to space-bombs with fixed coordinates.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Truth be told, Lily also found the idea unreasonable despite it being brought up by her boss. However, after hearing what Holler had to say, she was beginning to suspect that the idea might not be impossible again.

If the terrorists could have a spy in the military, it wasn't impossible to think that they found some way to smuggle in space-bombs into the planet. What's more, that terrorist, Ginon, was an Evonika-Hyuman crossbreed. Evonikas weren't native to Eretre or even the Kellan solar system. Unlike other alien species Evonikas didn't wander outside of their solar system as much.

Also, the Saurian, Mikolos, was the same.

It was clear that the duo weren't from Eretre, and there was a very high chance that they weren't even from the Kellan solar system either.

Lily took in a deep breath, held back her thoughts, then had Holler continue. No matter whether they were true or not, her thoughts were merely suspicions, and until there was enough evidence to clarify them, it was best not to speak about it just yet.
