Chapter 237 Depend
Xiao Lan felt nervous as she looked down at her feet. It was natural, as this was the first time she had truly opened her heart in her two lifetimes.
Even in her first life, she had not told anyone about the Ancestral Phoenix Flames and their nature. It was her biggest secret, and by disclosing it to her new family, she wanted to show them that she truly felt at ease with them.
She wanted to show that she trusted them.
But it was also because she wanted to convince herself. She wanted to see if she truly trusted her new family. She also wanted to see their reaction to her disclosure.
In all honesty, she was expecting nothing much. All because she knew her family and knew they would just be happy for her and feel angry for her.
It was something she knew, but she wanted to see to calm her heart. She couldn't help it. After going through everything in her first life, she couldn't fully trust someone, even now.
Xiao Lan understood this and wanted to find a solution to it. And she found it.
'I wonder how they will feel now!'
She was hopeful.
In the next moment, she heard a voice laced with confusion.
"Why are you apologizing?"
Ning Xi asked as she ate an apple. Her face showed pure confusion, as she truly couldn't understand the situation.
"You were the one who suffered, you know. I am already surprised that you have our family a chance because I don't know if I could have mustered up the courage for this."
Lan Ming smiled and turned to face Xiao Lan.
"She is right, Sister Lan. You don't have to feel guilty for something like this. We are a family, you remember, or not?"
'I really am an idiot!'
Xiao Lan chuckled wryly as she then slapped both of her cheeks, surprising everyone. She took a deep breath as finger marks appeared on her cheeks.
"I am not good with words, but I can say one thing. I truly am grateful for being a part of this family."
Her smile was brighter than even the sunlight reflecting on the lake as she spoke.
"I won't try to hide anything from now on and will tell you all if I have any problems."
Her words made everyone smile, as they had the same intentions. They truly considered each other as family and would do anything for one another.
If any one of them had problems, they wanted to be there to help. They had experienced being in trouble by themselves and knew how much having loved ones beside you could help.
Xiao Lan looked at everyone and said:
"But I also hope you do the same. I love all of you, so it'll pain me if you deal with your problems alone. If you can't tell us, then simply tell us what we can do."
Song Junwan giggled softly and said:
"That goes without saying. I really need help here, hehe."
Everyone chuckled at that, as they knew her problem very well. Even if she wanted to, she couldn't solve it all alone.
Planting her dagger on the table, Ying Yue muttered, as the atmosphere turned heavy.
"Everything is good, but what do we do with those bastards who did all of this to you?"
Her words reminded everyone of the important matter at hand. She was right. While Xiao Lan had suffered so much, the ones who caused all of this were enjoying their lives in the Divine Realm.
It wasn't acceptable for them.
Xiao Lan felt happy knowing that they were ready to fight even divine beings for her, but she understood how impossible the task was.
She shook her head and said:
"I also want to return the sufferings they've put me through. However, now is not the time. They are way stronger than us."
She clenched her fist and spoke, her voice low.
"You have to know that they're at the top of the Divine Realm, and we aren't even at the top of our lower world. For now, we'll bide our time and strike when we are strong enough."
"Why are you forgetting me?"
Everyone turned towards Shen Yu, who was smiling at Xiao Lan. However, this smile was different from the one he always showered them with.
It was scary.
Shen Yu sighed and put his hand on Xiao Lan's head.
"You know, I'm also quite angry here. You just need to say a word, and I'll flatten their whole Empire."
Xiao Lan's heart skipped a beat as she gazed into those dark eyes that had once almost killed her. Now, they were so charming and seemed to contain an endless hunger.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
She smiled as she took his hands and placed them on hers.
"I know that, Master. But I want to do it myself. Not because they're that important or anything. But this time, I want to experience this journey and see the results myself. So, can you allow me to do that?"
Shen Yu continued to look into her eyes for a while, then sighed heavily.
"Every single one of you is the same. You never let me do anything!"
Lan Ming chuckled softly.
"It's because you already do too much for us, Master. We just want to lessen your burden. Besides, if you do everything for us, then there will be no goal for us nor any motivation to get stronger."
Ning Xi nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure I can handle things for a while, but knowing that I have my husband's security all the time, I won't improve, and that's a curse for me. I don't want such a life."
Ying Yue nodded as she calmed her emotions.
"Master, we want to be strong enough to handle all your work. We want to have enough strength to fulfill your every wish. That's all we want, and for that, we need to get stronger." Explore more adventures at empire
Shen Yu threw his head back in annoyance and said:
"You are annoying. What kind of husband am I if I don't even spoil you?"
"The best one!"
Everyone replied in unison.
