Chapter 2450 Clash of the Guardians
Chapter 2450 Clash of the Guardians
Three massive Khaos guardians now stood facing each other, their colossal forms dominating the battlefield. Despite the chaos around them, they did not immediately attack. Instead, an eerie sense of camaraderie filled the air, as if ancient allies were reuniting after eons apart.
"Daurgo, how long has it been?" the flaming black dragon, Killgragah, rumbled, his deep voice reverberating like thunder. "Two thousand years, and you look as cold and bony as ever!"
The skeletal dragon, Daurgototh, glared with icy disdain, its hollow eyes flaring with blue energy. "And you are still as talkative as always," it replied in a tone as frigid as its chilling breath.
Cthulhu, the swampy green beast, lumbered closer, its massive, short legs crushing what remained of the shattered buildings beneath it. Its grotesque form shifted and slithered as it joined the exchange. "If only Tarrasque were here, now that would be something," it muttered, its voice a low, guttural growl.
Emery watched in awe as the ancient beasts conversed, their titanic presence momentarily overshadowing the battle itself. Even Tolaro, the dark elf Grand Magus, seemed enraptured, his initial smirk transforming into a look of unrestrained glee.
He began to chuckle, his voice rising with excitement. "To think the great Killgragah is here as well! You've hidden him well, young human," Tolaro said, casting an appraising glance at Emery.
Tolaro's chuckle abruptly ceased, and he hovered closer to the three guardians, his dark robes billowing as he spoke. "I am the strongest Khaos champion," he declared. "With the three of you at my side, we can fulfill our master's wishes!"
His gaze shifted between Cthulhu and Killgragah, "What say you?!"
Killgragah tilted its massive head, the molten light in its eyes glinting with amusement. "Hmm… This one is quite smart. He recognizes my greatness right away!"
Cthulhu let out a rumbling growl, its small, sunken eyes narrowing in annoyance. "Really? You'd switch champions just because of that?"
Daurgototh let out a bone-rattling chuckle. "I see you haven't gotten any smarter... Not surprising."
The atmosphere grew tense as the guardians' banter began to irritate both Talaro and the black dragon. Talaro's face contorted with frustration, realizing that his grand speech was being completely disregarded. Adding to his irritation, his guardian not only failed to assist in persuading the others but actively undermined his efforts instead.
Killgragah turned its molten gaze toward Tolaro, speaking with a booming authority. "This is the rule. Prove you are the better champion than mine" The dragon's wings spread wide, sending a fiery gust across the battlefield as it turned its attention back to Daurgototh. "Meanwhile… Daurgo, let's fight!"
The dracolich responded without hesitation. It unleashed a torrent of frozen hellfire, a shimmering blue blaze that froze everything in its path. Killgragah roared, countering with a blast of molten flames so intense it melted the earth beneath them. The two forces collided in a dazzling explosion of fire and frost, the opposing energies creating shockwaves that rippled through the battlefield.
Emery braced himself as the clash sent debris flying in all directions. The sheer scale of their power was terrifying, and yet, as he observed, something unsettling caught his attention. Despite the fiery might of Killgragah's attack, the balance of energy was shifting—slowly but surely—in favor of the dracolich.
With a mighty roar, the black dragon ceased its fire and soared high into the sky, its molten wings cutting through the icy air. The dracolich followed, its skeletal frame moving with unnatural grace as it ascended to meet its foe.
In the skies above, the battle escalated to ferocious close combat. Killgragah's claws, wreathed in molten fire, slashed at Daurgototh's icy bones, each strike sending showers of sparks and shards of frozen bone cascading to the ground. The dracolich retaliated with devastating swipes of its skeletal tail, laced with frost that froze the air around it.
Their roars echoed like thunderclaps, and their massive forms clashed with such force that shockwaves rippled across the battlefield.
"The dracolich is stronger…" Emery murmured, his brow furrowing.
Cthulhu's guttural voice rumbled in agreement. "This realm was created in favor of the dracolich, and also... Killgragah's champion isn't here." n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
The words struck Emery like a thunderbolt. He quickly pieced together what the green dragon meant. Killgragah had chosen him as its champion, but the black dragon's true connection—its primary bond—was to Morgana, who wasn't present. That absence weakened Killgragah's influence within this chaotic mirror realm, tilting the balance in favor of the dracolich.
"Why don't you go help him, then?" Emery asked.
The green dragon let out a huff of mocking laughter, its foul breath making the air around them ripple with distortion. "That arrogant beast would never let me join the fight," it said. Then, it added with a low growl, "And besides… who will protect you from him?"
Cthulhu's gaze shifted pointedly toward Tolaro, who was now descending gracefully from the sky. The dark elf hovered closer, his dark robes flowing like liquid shadows as he approached. His sharp eyes glinted with an unnerving mix of curiosity and malice.
"Guardian of the Abyss," Tolaro called out, his voice smooth but heavy with command. "I've prepared this moment meticulously—just to meet you. Join me and end this pointless fighting among ourselves"
Cthulhu shifted its massive bulk, its tentacles coiling and uncoiling as if weighing the offer. It turned its gaze toward Emery, its glowing, sunken eyes unreadable. Without warning, one of its enormous, slimy tentacles lashed out, wrapping tightly around Emery's body.
Tolaro's lips curled into a triumphant smile as he watched the green dragon hoist Emery into the air. "A wise choice," he murmured. "You see, human, the guardians recognize true power when they see it."
But something about Emery's demeanor made Tolaro hesitate. Emery wasn't struggling. He wasn't fighting against the suffocating grip of the tentacle. Instead, he remained calm, his expression unreadable as Cthulhu placed him gently onto its broad, swampy back.
Emery adjusted his stance atop the green dragon, looking down at Tolaro with calm defiance. "I don't think you can feed me better than he does… so my answer is no."
The simple reply sent a ripple of irritation through Tolaro. His triumphant smirk vanished, replaced by a sharp glare. "Feeding?" he snapped. "I can give you a whole world to feed on!"
Cthulhu let out a deep, rumbling chuckle that made the ground quake. "Maybe… but he can cook better."
Emery placed his hand atop Cthulhu, unleashing both his darkness and nature magic to strengthen the bond between them. As the connection solidified, Cthulhu exhaled a cloud of poisonous smoke around them, preparing for the impending battle.
What do you think?
