Chapter 371 Appearance of the Knights
"What is the situation?" the City Lord asked calmly.
"My lord, everything is going according to plan," the butler responded with a deep bow.
"Good… What about the Necoris?"
Although he had turned a blind eye to the atrocities of the Necoris, he was merely biding his time. Right now, he would make sure to flush every one of them out of his city.
When the butler heard this, he was quiet for a moment before responding. "According to our spies, a commander arrived a couple of days ago, and he is part of the Necoris attacking tonight."
The City Lord knitted his brows upon hearing about the arrival of the Necoris commander. A Necoris commander was a powerful existence among the Necoris ranks and not something a common Martial Artist could deal with.
With the arrival of the Necoris, his plans needed some adjustments, but he was not worried.
No matter who it was, tonight he would make sure to eradicate them.
Inside the Wei Clan, all four clans sat with confident smiles plastered on their faces. With their preparations, they could already see the destruction of the Celestial Heavenly Store.
"I can bet the store owner is already regretting his decision not to give us the superior grade technique," the Sun Patriarch said, taking a sip of his wine.
"What do you expect? Even the City Lord has to bow when he sees us. How could some duckweed go against us?" said the Feng Patriarch.
Listening to the words of the two clan leaders, everyone nodded their heads in satisfaction and expectation.
With the weapons and superior-grade technique, they would have a chance to leave this forsaken city for greener pastures.
As they were having fun discussing their next course of action once they got the superior-grade technique, the door to the main hall was pushed open.
"My lord…" A guard rushed in and fell to his knees.
With knitted brows, the Wei Patriarch looked at the guard and asked in a deep voice, "Where are your manners? Why would you enter without announcing your presence?"
"I'm sorry, my lord. I have urgent news, which made me forget my manners," the guard responded with a deep bow.
"What urgent news? Have they already destroyed the store?" the Feng Patriarch chuckled, a smile on his face.
"Hahaha. I knew it. The store is just a paper tiger," the Sun Patriarch added, his voice laced with scorn.
The Mo Matriarch did not share their enthusiasm and demanded, "Tell us the urgent news."
"Yes, my lord," the guard nodded. "The Necoris have joined the battle. When we prepared to attack the store, they appeared, with a commander leading them."
"What?!"
The four clan leaders stood up, their previous calm and collected demeanors vanishing into thin air. With wide eyes, they looked at each other.
"How could this be?" the Sun Patriarch exclaimed.
The Mo and Feng clan leaders were surprised but for different reasons. They were aware of the presence of the Necoris and their plans but never imagined they would invite a commander to fight for the superior-grade technique.
"T-This is bad…" the Feng Patriarch muttered, deep concern etched on his face.
"We need to do something," the Sun Patriarch said impatiently.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
His clan had invested a lot of money and resources in this endeavor, and if the Necoris were to take everything away, who would bear the brunt?
"Agreed. We need to do something fast," said the Wei Patriarch.
He had sent his son and their strongest experts to destroy the store, but with the arrival of the Necoris commander, the life of his son was in jeopardy.
Taking a deep breath, the Mo Matriarch looked at the three clan leaders. "Why don't we negotiate with the Necoris commander?" she suggested with a solemn expression.
"Are you crazy?!" shouted the Sun Patriarch. He sent a cold, piercing gaze at the Mo Matriarch. "Would you stoop so low just because you want to get your hands on a superior-grade technique and collude with humanity's enemies?"
He knew the Mo clan leader was cunning and would do anything to benefit her clan, but he never expected she would go as far as to collude with the Necoris.
The atrocities of the Necoris were known to all. For years, humans had become prey and playthings for the inhumane actions of the bloodthirsty Necoris.
Millions of humans had died at their hands, and yet she dared suggest such a thing.
Instantly, the atmosphere in the room changed. Tension hung in the air.
"Please, don't say such a thing in my presence again," the Wei Patriarch glared at the Mo Matriarch, the strong aura of a Master Martial Artist leaking from his body.
Feeling the deadly intimidation, both the Mo and Sun clan leaders were deeply shocked. They never thought the two clan leaders would react so strongly toward the Necoris.
Realizing she had said the wrong thing to the wrong people, the Mo clan leader quickly apologized while glancing at the Feng clan leader.
Shortly, the meeting ended, with each clan leaving with large strides. With how things had turned out, everything now depended on them finding a solution to the Necoris commander.
Alone in the hall, the Wei Patriarch wore a solemn expression. "I never expected the Mo and Feng clans would join hands with the enemies."
Previously, he had doubts about the two clan leaders, but now his suspicions were confirmed.
"I need to change my plan."
With the two clans joining with the enemies, he knew it was only a matter of time before they bared their fangs at him, which was why he had leaked his aura of a Master Martial Artist.
Far from the schemes and plots, rows of knights marched out from the Celestial Heavenly Store, each adorned in strange armor.
If anyone from the Barren Land saw this armor, they would recognize it as the Metal Bone Construct.
Twenty knights adorned in the Metal Bone Construct looked at the hundreds of enemies without any change in their expressions and hanging on their waists were gleaming swords.
