Chapter 419 Varsals
"WOOHOOO!! MY BOSS IS TRULY THE BEST!" Seira exclaimed in utter delight as she watched Shye descend the stage.
Then, realizing that she also had her share in the winnings, the purple-haired midget excitedly stood up and rushed towards the stage.
"AND THAT'S THAT, FOLKS! A HUGE WIN FOR BALKROW CITY! AS FOR THE CHALLENGERS FROM KREVAR CITY, IT WAS A NICE ATTEMPT SO LET'S GIVE THEM A ROUND OF APPLAUSE."
Corey's words indeed elicited a round of applause from the crowd; however, their cheers had mocking undertones.
Hence, the already ashamed party from Krevar City had no choice but to exit the arena with a heavily humiliated heart.
Oh, how they wish they could burn the darned city to the ground.
Unfortunately, they were mere adventurers, and they had no choice but to take this shameful loss despite how unwilling they were.
"Hahahaha! Nice try! But don't come back here ever again. Save yourselves the shame as you guys would forever remain inferior to adventurers from Balkrow! Muwahahahaha!"
…Just when the Krevar party was about to leave the gates of the arena, one overly enthusiastic onlooker shouted something that served as the final straw that broke the camel's back for Greg, one of the seven adventurers from Krevar City who had…another identity.
Seeing nothing but red after being overwhelmed by the rage in his heart, the young adventurer from Krevar suddenly sprinted back to the center of the arena like some crazy person.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Understandably, Dodge and the others were perplexed by his actions, causing them to turn their heads towards their teammate, worry growing in their hearts.
Greg…looked undeniably crazy at that moment.
Shortly after, the Krevar party's concerns were validated when Greg unexpectedly removed his armor and shirt, exposing his muscular physique that also revealed a red seal of a horned owl on the left side of his chest.
He then pressed his right palm at the seal and started injecting mana into it.
"VARSALS!!" City Lord Felix stood up from his seat as he exclaimed in shock and deep wariness, recognizing the seal on the young man's chest immediately. "Men! stop that young man this instant! He's going to blow himself and this entire arena up!"
Hearing the city lord's words, the arena guards and a few of the emerald-ranked adventurers who were in the position to try and stop Greg immediately dashed towards him, including Shye, whose first impulse was to slap the f*ck out of the crazy young man.
And since he was the fastest out of everyone who rushed towards Greg, his slap landed solidly, rearranging the face of the young man to one side and sending him flying across the arena.
Shockingly, although the slap knocked Greg out, his palm remained glued to the seal, continuously supplying mana to it.
Witnessing this sight, Shye slightly panicked.
'Fallen's Wings!'
Summoning his pair of rotten mana wings, Shye arrived beside the unconscious Greg in one mighty flap, swiftly grabbing his wrist in an attempt to remove the hand from the seal.
*CRACK!*
Only, Shye didn't expect that even with more than 300 points of strength, he would be unable to remove the hand from the horned owl seal.
All his pull did was break Greg's forearms, yet, the palm and the seal remained in contact.
This time, Shye couldn't help but panic.
If the madman detonated as City Lord Felix described, it would impact 60,000 Balkrow citizens, with 40,000 potentially dying instantly.
He needed to come up with a solution quickly, especially given the increasingly bright azure glow on Greg's body!
Fortunately, his 300 points on intelligence weren't just for show as soon after, a feasible idea entered his mind.
"You can explode all you want…" Shye exclaimed while grabbing Greg's broken forearm.
He then flapped his wings powerfully, launching him atop the tall arena walls; and with another flap, he flew high in the sky.
"...but don't do it here! You sore loser!!"
Just before Greg exploded, Shye used every bit of his strength to hurl the bastard as high as possible skywards.
Then, a few moments later…
*BOOM!*
A devastating mana explosion occurred in the air, painting the heavenly canvas in mixed hues of azure and scarlet, eliciting horrified screams from the onlookers.
Shortly after, droplets of blood and small body parts rained upon the crowd, causing the faint-hearted ones to vomit with a few outright passing out.
Meanwhile, City Lord Felix and Guild Master Corvus had their mouths agape, seemingly finding it difficult to relate a competition between adventurers to a terrorist group attack.
"Phew…that crazy bastard…"
Everyone snapped out of their stupor upon hearing someone's sigh of relief, specifically, Shye's.
Turning their heads, they saw him flashing a thumbs up and a smile at them as though saying: "Don't worry guys, I got you!"
Soon after realizing what just happened, they erupted into ear-splitting cheers and thunderous applause, waking up those who passed out in the process.

"H-Holy sh*t! Boss! You were so cool! What a sm–"
"Crowley! Well done! Come to my office, I have something to discuss with you in addition to bestowing you some rewards from the city's treasury.
While Seira was in the middle of praising her boss to the high heavens, her words were abruptly cut off by City Lord Felix.
However, how could she dare crap around in front of the city lord?
She could only keep the slight discontentment in her heart.
As for Shye, his ears perked up upon hearing that he would obtain additional rewards for his heroic deeds.
He naturally felt happy about it.
Yet, he couldn't help but wonder about the word "Varsals" which the city lord exclaimed upon seeing the horned owl seal on Greg's chest.
Hopefully, the city lord would throw in an explanation as well.
After all, the darned terrorist groups might be related to the disappearance of his parents.
