Flashy Adventurer System : Show Off to Get Stronger!

Chapter 425 Roommates

'It's better to hide my abilities for now and try to observe the monster from a distance for a while…'

After deciding on the best course of action to take, Shye once again shifted his focus back to the False Gorgon.

'Hoh? This thing is indeed stronger than regular (B) ranked monsters. Its attributes are approaching those of the weaker (A) ranked creatures already…' Shye pondered after seeing the False Gorgon's status window.

Although he could roughly determine its battle style based on its skills, which he didn't see as a major issue, Shye knew better than to underestimate the creature.

After all, if he took a direct hit from its attacks, his body would still suffer tremendously.

Feigning distress while retrieving his greatswords from the system's inventory, Shye slowly stepped back, acting like a cornered prey.

Meanwhile, the False Gorgon slowly advanced, gazing at Shye with a playful yet eerie smile, trying its best to make eye contact with its frightened food.

Its sharp fangs that resembled nothing like a human's teeth leaked petrifying poison to the ground.

Soon after, it realized that the human knew about its stone gaze, hence, it decided to draw its bow and attack from a safe range to whittle down the puny human's strength.

It enjoyed playing with its "reserve food" anyway, so a prolonged battle is just as acceptable as a quick one.

Firing three mana arrows, the creature hissed in excitement; on the other hand, Shye deflected the first two before intentionally allowing the third to pierce his body.

He then "screamed in agony" after receiving just one attack.

Naturally, the sound of his suffering was like heavenly music to the False Gorgon, deepening the eerie smile on its face.

It wanted to hear more.

"HAAAAGHH!" Shye charged towards the half-serpentine creature and exclaimed a battle cry with a "desperate to survive" expression on his face.

Then, upon arriving at the optimal distance to strike, Shye slashed his greatswords with "all his might" toward the Gorgon's scaly lower body.

As the greatswords and the creature's scales clashed, Shye's eyes widened upon realizing that his greatswords didn't even pierce the tough lower body armor.

Shortly after, the Gorgon cackled gratingly, coiling its lower body towards the shocked adventurer.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Subsequently, another wail of anguish escaped Shye's mouth as the monstrous creature squeezed his body hard.

"H-hiiih! Let go of me!!" Shye squealed as he repeatedly stabbed the False Gorgon's scales. This time, he applied just enough force for the greatswords to moderately penetrate the tough armor and flesh.

As a result, the Gorgon, who was utterly caught off guard by the sudden increase in strength, screeched in anguish as it was forced to let go of its prey, who suddenly reappeared outside the barrier, scurrying away pathetically.

It tried to give chase, but it had never attempted to turn off the mana barrier before since the few mages who dared to fight it were always turned to stone.

Thus, this was its first time facing a situation where prey it deemed nearly dead, supposedly a warrior, suddenly managed to blink out of the barrier.

Consequently, due to inexperience, it was far too late by the time it managed to turn off the mana barrier.

The prey…had already escaped.

Furious, the False Gorgon hissed one last time before returning to its lair in an evidently bad mood.

Little did it know, it would be staying at the same area as its prey as Shye simply hid behind a nearby rock, and sneaked back in right after the Gorgon exited the lair to pursue him.

He then swiftly assembled the item he obtained as a reward from City Lord Felix, the Small Camouflage Camp, at a corner where he could see everything going on inside the lair.

Luckily, he practiced assembling it over and over in his free time, allowing him to barely set it up before the False Gorgon returned.

Consequently, while the monstrous creature raged inside its home, someone was already setting up his sleeping bags and lighting a small campfire at some random corner.

Since Shirley already completed her Thunderblight Toad quest, and she wasn't among the petrified victims of the half-baked Gorgon, the only lead he could think of was the people supporting the Gorgon.

Hence, he planned to wait for them to visit the monstrous creature before following them back to their hideout or capturing them for interrogation.

This was his best course of action at present.

If, by some chance, Shirley wasn't actually in danger and had already returned to the guild, then he would prefer it that way, even though it would mean wasted efforts.

As long as she was safe…

…The camp was set up in plain view, yet, as per its explained effects, the Gorgon couldn't see it at all.

As a result, Shye could simply peer out of a small portion of the camouflage camp to check what was happening outside anytime he wanted.

Unfortunately for him, nothing happened in the next two days as the Gorgon simply lazed around its lair while consuming the petrified adventurers from time to time.

It was a pretty harrowing sight.

However, Shye gave no f*cks as he wasn't related to the petrified adventurers at all.

Soon, the chilling darkness of the night once again consumed the world.

'Sigh…better sleep now so I can wake up early tomorrow…' Shye thought as he nestled himself inside his cozy sleeping bag.

But then, just when he was about to fall asleep…
