Chapter 188 Aurielle's Gift And True Identity
"Your gift should be gift creation, right?" Linsley stated, his voice calm yet precise.
"If I'm not mistaken, you use your gift to create other gifts whenever and wherever you want. That explains the vast arsenal of abilities you've displayed—none of them connected to each other, yet your flux cost remains lower than mine. The only plausible explanation is that you truly own every gift you've used."
Aurielle tilted her head slightly, her lively smile turning curious. Hearing his speculation, she had no intention of hiding her gift. Instead, she appeared more intrigued by how he had deduced it so accurately.
Since he had guessed correctly, she didn't bother denying it and asked, "How do you know it's gift creation and not gift plunder or gift copy?"
Linsley met her question with a confident reply. "I did consider those possibilities, but I ultimately ruled them out in favor of gift creation. Those two are powerful, but they aren't as convenient as gift creation."
He continued, his tone carrying the weight of his reasoning. "If you had gift plunder, I, as the Lieutenant General of the Astral Dominion, would have long heard reports of diviners suddenly losing their gifts en masse. Such an anomaly would be impossible to hide."
"As for gift copy," he said, narrowing his eyes slightly, "it wouldn't attract as much attention as plunder, but it still doesn't explain your mastery over rare abilities like reality manipulation or gifts that perfectly counter my attacks. To acquire all those gifts through copying would require an immense amount of time and preparation."
Linsley's gaze didn't waver as he laid out his reasoning. "You appear to be sixteen, though I'm sure you're older than you look. Even so, copying such a broad spectrum of gifts would take decades, if not centuries. And that's assuming you had access to all the gifts you desired. Some gifts might not even exist in this generation of diviners."
"Gift copying," he added with a slight shrug, "is simply too inconvenient. You'd need to start with no gifts of your own, meaning you'd have to acquire specific ones like presence concealment and invisibility just to sneak into other diviners' homes to copy theirs. That doesn't align with how you operate."
Aurielle listened attentively to his analysis, her violet eyes sparkling with amusement. "Isn't it still possible that I'm simply much older than you think? Maybe I've been copying gifts from past generations for centuries."
Linsley smirked faintly at her suggestion. "That's certainly possible," he admitted, his tone light yet firm, "but didn't you already confirm that you have gift creation? I was 99% sure of my guess before, but your lack of denial sealed the deal. If you had gift copy, you would've said so to throw me off. Since you didn't, it's safe to say you have gift creation."
Aurielle's smile grew wider, her playful demeanor intact even as Linsley's analysis stripped away the mystery surrounding her abilities.
Aurielle asked with a playful smile, "What if I was misleading you earlier by not denying your guess about my gift being gift creation?"
Linsley remained unfazed, his expression calm and composed as he replied, "Frankly, it doesn't matter whether your gift is gift creation or gift copy. Either way, you'd still have a vast arsenal of abilities that I'd have to contend with."
He continued, his tone confident. "But judging by your personality—at least from what I've observed—I'm certain you have gift creation. Your reaction when I mentioned it confirmed my guess."
Aurielle chuckled lightly, her violet eyes glinting with amusement. "Fair enough. But you're right—it doesn't really change anything. Whether I create gifts or copy them, you're still facing a diviner of your level with a vast range of abilities. So, will you give up now, or keep fighting?"
She tilted her head, her grin widening as she added, "You know, there's no way you can defeat me. I have far more gifts than you. Your Real Fantasy gift is powerful—SSS-rank, no less—and I'll admit, I've never encountered anything quite like it before. But I can't seem to deprive you of it, which is unusual. It's clear that you fully own it, unlike those descended from the human ancestor whose gifts were bestowed by me."
Linsley wasn't surprised that she could see through his Real Fantasy gift and even its name. It was likely she possessed a gift that allowed her to identify and analyze other gifts.
What truly unsettled him, however, was her casual claim about bestowing gifts upon humanity's ancestor. The only being known to have done that was the Superpower God.
Looking at Aurielle, who didn't seem to be lying, Linsley pondered, 'If she really is the Superpower God, then she might be the secret behind the Outer God's death in the previous god simulation, where the Outer God destroyed the Diviner World and, in doing so, triggered its own downfall.'
'From what she mentioned, she not only has the ability to create gifts but can also bestow and deprive them. My Real Fantasy gift, back in the previous god simulation, was likely among those she could claim authority over since it originated from the gifts bestowed on humanity. But after the simulation ended, and I received the Real Fantasy gift along with its Level 9.9 power as a reward, it became fully mine. It's no longer under her domain.' 'Based on her revelations, she seems limited to depriving only those gifts that she originally bestowed. If I had faced her during the previous god simulation, before I fully owned my Real Fantasy gift, I would have lost—it would have been within her power to take it from me.'
Although there was always a chance Aurielle was lying, Linsley wasn't particularly concerned. Her Level 9.9 Overlord strength and her gift creation abilities were undoubtedly real—those facts were indisputable.
She was, without question, the most formidable opponent he had ever encountered, second only to the Outer God.
However, if his speculation about her being the Superpower God was correct, then the power she had shown was likely only a fraction of her true strength, sealed for reasons unknown.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Otherwise, no Level 9.9 Overlord—no matter how powerful—would have been capable of killing the Outer God that descended into the Diviner World during the previous god simulation.
At that time, Linsley had been at his peak, even stronger than his current state. Now, without faith power to augment his abilities, he lacked the edge he once had. Back in the previous simulation, even with a modest amount of faith power, he had been far more formidable.
Faced with Aurielle's enigmatic demeanor, Linsley decided to confront her directly. "Are you the Superpower God or not? Even in the religion surrounding the Superpower God, the deity's gender is ambiguous—some portray the Superpower God as male, others as female."
"With the power you've shown, and how unlikely it is for the human race to have produced someone as strong as you, I'm inclined to believe you are the Superpower God."
Aurielle responded with a sly smile, her tone playful yet cryptic. "Am I? Or am I not? Maybe I'll tell you—if you manage to defeat me."
Her carefree attitude grated on Linsley, especially given the seriousness of the situation.
Frustration simmered in his voice as he pressed on. "You do realize that the Diviner World is being slowly corrupted and invaded by the Outer Gods, right? The unknown virus is undoubtedly their creation, and yet no one is stopping its spread."
"Every living being in the Diviner World will soon suffer because of it. It's not just limited to the human race—it will affect the monster race too. If you truly are the Superpower God, why haven't you done anything to stop the Outer Gods?"
"And what about those in the higher realm? Why are they doing nothing against the Outer Gods?"
Aurielle's playful demeanor faltered as a frown crossed her face. Her tone shifted, losing its usual levity. "Do you really think I don't want to deal with those cancers of the universe?"
"You're not even a Diviner King yet, so you have no idea what's happening in the higher realm. I suggest you ascend and see for yourself just how hopeless the situation is before lecturing me from your moral high ground."
She sighed, the weight of her words sinking into the air between them. "I'm hiding in my human incarnation because I've already sealed most of my power. If the Outer Gods discover my existence, even if I manage to kill a few of them, they'll overwhelm me eventually—and they'll seize the origin of the gifts from me."
"When that happens, almost every Diviner—with a few exceptions like you—will have their gifts stripped away, leaving them defenseless against the Outer Gods."
Aurielle's expression grew darker, her voice tinged with both frustration and resignation. "The fact that I'm in hiding now is my way of protecting the universe. If I step into the battlefield, I'll only paint a massive target on my back."
"And when the righteous forces can barely protect themselves from traitors and the Outer Gods, how do you expect them to protect me?"
