Chapter 403 – Even Weasels Have Family!
Teacher Millie didn't explain further and told the students to move right now or they wouldn't be able to defeat 10 Magical Creatures as the number was pretty limited.
And because she mentioned punishment for those unable to bring back proof that they had defeated 10 magical creatures.
As such, the students ran toward the Magical Forest at once. Including Max.
"Damn it." He cursed as he looked at the floating window before him.
[Quest updated!]
[Main quest: Defeat 10 Magical Creatures or take a Griffon's feather to teacher Millie.]
"Magical creatures meant those weasels, right? And Griffon… That bastard is too hard. I need something to keep its movement in bay if I want to take its feather. Even so, it's too dangerous to fight, so I will run away if I encounter it."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
— Wise choice
— cough, you can always create Bind magic with your EXP. Please, don't be shy and use it
— I know you have a plan, so don't disappoint us! (Mean we want to watch you struggle against Griffon)
— ^ lmfao you need to explain it? Lololol
At first, he thought Griffon would be easy. But after it killed him, he realized that without a Rank 3 spell or higher, he would have no chance of injuring it.
'In case of emergency, I am already prepared to create a new magic. But well, I hope it doesn't come to that.'
Creating a new magic only needed 3 ingredients, and he had already got them all. The element, the description, and EXP.
"Alright. It seems I have no other choice, so let's just tackle this mission like a man."
Finding the weasels or any magical creatures would be hard work itself. They often hid themselves, opting for a surprise attack instead of a normal one. That meant, magical creatures liked to hide until their prey appeared in front of them and ran if there was a predator.
"It's just like hunting."
That meant he also had to be silent and got used to this forest first. When he was first attacked by the weasel, he was already in this forest for more than an hour, foraging the grass to find paralysis grass.
'But I have no time right now. My viewers need some stimulation or they will leave.'
The best way to keep them interested would be by battling Griffon. That, or found the magical creatures' nest and attacked it.
Without even considering the former, he decided to use the second method. Enjoy new tales from empire
'Alright, let's return to where I found the weasel yesterday and try to follow its escaping track. I hope I can find it again.'
After thinking about that, he broke into a run, confusing the viewers.
— What's Breeze doing?
— He suddenly ran without saying anything.
— Maybe he discovered something or has a plan in mind?
— Breeze always has one plan in mind. Go find the enemy and beat the shiet out of it
— Fact *nod nod
They weren't wrong at all.
Putting that aside, Max ran in the forest without slowing down as if it was his home. He jumped over some fallen trunk and jutting roots.
Before long, he arrived at the place where he was attacked by a scythe weasel. He arrived faster because he didn't need to look around for paralysis grass this time.
Standing on the animal trail, Max took a deep breath and looked up.
"Aaaahh! Help me! I am so weak that I can die from tripping!" He shouted something strange and the chat was filled with question marks.
— Confirmed, Breeze is going crazy
— Why is he suddenly like that? His beta energy is off chart right now it's disgusting
— lolol. What kind of stupidity will he do this time?
— The same energy as, "Kyaa! There is a roach here! HELP ME!" I can't help but burst laughing
— My stomach… Please, Breeze. Stop this!
The chat was confused, laughed, and some were disgusted by Max's display of strangeness. He clicked his tongue and crossed his arms in response.
"I tried to channel my beta aura so I appear like a prey, just shut up. Magical Creatures are said to be sensitive about those things. I heard it from one of the NPC who gave me a side quest earlier. That guy yapped a lot, almost similar to Jamal. But the information is useful."
The information was as follows. Scythe weasels could understand human speech. They could differentiate which one talked strongly and which one was weak and suitable to be a prey.
What Max did was to lead them to believe he was just a weak prey without any protection or power to defend himself. It was embarrassing, but this was a good strategy in his opinion.
'This way, I can bait just one or two weasels that believed in my voice. Fighting against one put me on the edge last time. I guessed two are my limits, otherwise I will be overwhelmed and get killed without being able to do anything.'
Anyway, he believed this would work. Though the chat was skeptical.
— Will this work?
— Acting like a beta and id1otic person to lure the weasel to attack you? This kind of plan isn't Breeze-like at all!
— I don't think the scythe weasels are that stupid. They surely know that it's a trap, right?
— My brother, weasels are animals. They know nothing about the word trap
— No, I can't believe this stupid strategy will work
Everyone called the strategy stupid. That was until Max heard movement going toward him.
"It's here! Earth Weapon – Sword" He exclaimed as he formed an earth sword in his right hand and took his wand on his left.
The sound of leaves moving could be heard right from his right. Based on the sound and the soft footsteps, there was only one of the weasels.
'This will be easy!'
What made the fight difficult before was that he didn't know the enemy attack pattern. But now he knew, he was confident to kill them easily.
The sound was getting closer. The air became dryer and the atmosphere rose. Orange color filled the area in front of him.
At that moment, he had a bad feeling.
"Wait." Max muttered and took a step back, raising his sword instinctively.
The magical creature he was waiting for leaped from the bush. The dried leaves were immediately caught on fire as the creature passed.
By now, Max was able to see what it was. It was still a weasel. But, it was different from the previous one. Instead of having peach colored skin and green scythe as its tail, its color was bright red and the tail was made of fire.
It bared its fang toward him as it was ready to bite its prey to death.
Facing the unexpected enemy, Max immediately jumped away. He dodged the initial attack and took on a fighting position.
"That's not the weasel from before! How can its tail be made of fire?" He asked the chat. His eyes were planted on the weasel that hissed on the ground.
— Because it's a Fire Weasel, duh
— How could you not understand such a thing?
— Fire Weasel is another family of Scythe Weasels.
— You got lucky, Breeze. Sighting a Fire Weasel in this area is rare. And you can defeat it easily with water magic.
