Chapter 155 Meeting With Priscilla.
Kyle was taking steps to rectify the problem presented to him but knew he had to be careful not to allow things to bleed into this reality.
Since the system was activated a month ago, Kyle's life branched into multiple paths.
Priscilla agreed to help him but only if Kyle had any sustainable evidence to back it up.
She arranged a meeting however Kyle was adamant that this place couldn't be the police station.
This was suspicious but Priscilla didn't press it, she was certain that she could take Kyle in a fight should it come to that.
With Oliver sick, she would not only be alone but also unable to get his opinion regarding the situation.
Kyle arrived in his car, then at the restaurant that Jones worked in, Priscilla didn't have on her police uniform but everything about her screamed police.
The way she carried herself gave her away, most people could tell.
Jones was always in his office, but the moment he heard that Kyle was here with a woman, he dropped whatever he was doing and participated in the services the people he supervised provided.
Kyle saw Jones from the corner of his eye and was glad that he had come out of his office to help out because this would help shape Priscilla's perception of him, it was something that couldn't be helped. Because there was no way that Jones wouldn't hype him up to a certain degree even though Kyle knew this wasn't necessary; it would help to show Priscilla that he didn't send those cars in hopes of getting favours but rather simply because he wanted to.
Kyle gave Jones the heads-up, this might look impromptu but it was planned.
A deception that wasn't necessary for this interaction but Kyle was looking at the bigger picture.
If he was going to keep these pairs of officers even if Oliver wasn't present, he had to shape their perception of him early.
"Welcome back sir," Jones attended to them, acting like Kyle was only a customer.
"I saw you at the building…" Priscilla pointed out. She spoke to his wife when the investigation was still going on and saw a portrait of the family.
This was the owner of the building but luckily, she voiced this early before the conversation could go on.
This made it possible for Kyle to regain control of the situation, Jones was trying to be a decent wingman because that was what Kyle requested.
"We separate our relationship… In here, I'm the customer," Kyle redirected the conversation but Priscilla didn't seem impressed by this as her face was indifferent.
"I see," These were the only words that left her lips.
Priscilla wondered why he was telling her this because he was also a client in his home so this term was a bit strange.
She looked at Jones, confused as to why he was standing there with a smile on his face.
"Aren't you going to take my order?" Priscilla asked, the way she spoke wasn't rude but there was something off-putting about it.
She wasn't here for small talk and made that clear.
"Someone's impatient…" Kyle said with a smile.
This woman was going to be a tough nut to crack but all nuts crack eventually with the right tools.
Jones shrugged before taking their orders, he didn't know why Kyle needed his help but was just happy to be a part of it.
However, he got something out of it, Aiysha never informed him that she had spoken to the police.
It was a piece of information he just learned from this woman and it left a bitter taste in his mouth.
Kyle was focused on Priscilla, not taking his eyes off her for even a second but Priscilla was equal to the task.
The last thing she felt from Kyle was intimidation because she has dealt with some of the worst criminals known to man.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
There was no way some millionaire with a little too much free time on their hands could make her anxious.
"There is a judge that is proceeding over a case but I suspect that he has collected a bribe to sway the verdict in the way of the husband. I would have let it be but this person is a friend of mine, you see?" Kyle spilled the beans.
Priscilla already got the overall gist from the conversation but she needed to know who the target was.
This was a small case in itself but the name would determine the scale of this case.
"And who is this judge?" Priscilla asked only to be met with files laid horizontally across the table.
"What is this?" She asked but Kyle didn't give a verbal response, gesturing for her to open it up.
He asked the lawyer to help gather all the information she could on the man and luckily, she was able to do that in a couple of minutes.
There was nothing implicating him however that should be expected but Kyle could tell he had Priscilla's attention the moment she saw who she was going after.
"Do you even know who this is?" Priscilla asked, Kyle couldn't read what she was feeling right now.
"I was hoping you would…" Kyle responded, something told him that this wasn't the first time that this woman had heard of this man.
The truth was, this man had been on her radar because he was one of the few judges that have given questionable verdicts in the past.
But there was one thing that he was very good at and that was eradicating all connections.
There was nothing to lead on with, he cleaned his tracks better than a hungry man cleans his plate.
Priscilla didn't reveal his name but she didn't need to, Kyle already knew all he needed to know about the man.
"I will take the case," Priscilla said, shutting the folder but her aura was different.
"I'm glad to hear that…" Kyle said but Priscilla wanted to confirm one more thing.
"Are you the one that donated those cars to the LAPD?" Priscilla questioned.
She was blunt and went right to the point with no small talk, she wasn't interested in any social interaction that didn't concern her occupation.
"I have no idea what you're talking about or those 10 cars," Kyle fired back.
He knew that she didn't state the number of cars and did this intentionally to help her settle one case.
Priscilla didn't even react, her face remained stoic, not giving him any reaction.
Jones brought the food at that moment and Kyle wanted to ask her why she was eating so light but this was none of his business.
Kyle already knew he couldn't get through to her via normal conversations and she didn't reveal anything about herself.
So there was no way for him to further this interaction without forcing things but maybe he didn't need to.
For once, he might as well enjoy the silence and that was what they both did.
They spent over ten minutes eating, the best part about this was the silence wasn't awkward.
After eating, they just sat there for a couple of more minutes without saying a single word.
Kyle expected her to be up and away the moment they finished but she was not in any hurry to leave.
"Silence is peaceful, isn't it?" Kyle asked but Priscilla didn't answer nor respond which intrigued Kyle all the more.
"I have to go," Priscilla said but Kyle wasn't done with her just yet.
"I haven't even told you about my plan or is this your way of making sure you see me again?" Kyle teased, this was his personality so it wasn't something he could help.
Naturally, not everyone would be a fan of it but was Priscilla one of those people.
She awkwardly returned to the table but there wasn't any hint of embarrassment.
"You had a plan and sat in silence until now?" Priscilla asked with a raised brow.
"Don't you have anything better to do?" She added, astonished by his lack of awareness.
"Hey, I thought we were enjoying each other's company," Kyle chuckled but once again, no reaction from Priscilla.
She felt like an AI that he couldn't get through to but it was refreshing to have someone this professional by his side.
It meant that this was the same treatment others would get, Kyle couldn't explain it but he felt a sense of relief. She wasn't easy and that was good.
Kyle proceeded to tell her his plan in great detail and Priscilla's face remained completely uninterested but her body language said otherwise.
She was intrigued that Kyle could think of something so simple yet devious.
"This could work," That was all she said, pondering on the possibility of success.
Kyle had laid out a plan but Priscilla also realized that there was more than meets the eye with this man.
This was something she already suspected but Kyle laying out his thoughts allowed her a brief glimpse into how he thinks.
Kyle could tell but this was the only way to make sure she thought about him long after meeting him, he wanted to see what it would take to break that shell and hoped Oliver wouldn't be as difficult.
