Chapter 2136: 2137: Take Me Home
Chapter 2136: Chapter 2137: Take Me Home
It took Lin Yi about 40 minutes to drive to Wang Ying’s house.
Since he had the key, he entered without knocking.
As soon as he stepped through the door, the clanging sound of cooking greeted him.
Soon, he saw Wang Ying, dressed in a black lace nightgown, coming out of the kitchen holding a spatula.
“Come in, I won’t bother with you now. The food will be ready soon, and we can eat in no time.”
“No rush, take your time. There’s just the two of us, and we can’t eat that much anyway. Just make something simple.”
“You rarely come by, so I have to treat you well. I must show off my cooking skills in front of you.”
Lin Yi said nothing further, letting Wang Ying do as she pleased.
About 20 minutes later, Wang Ying brought four dishes and a soup to the table, along with a bottle of red wine, which instantly set the atmosphere.
“I just learned these dishes, try them.”
Lin Yi tasted a bit of each dish, then gave his sincere feedback.
First he affirmed her cooking, then offered some suggestions for improvement. Their home dinner concluded in a simple and relaxed environment.
For both of them, it was a deeply enjoyable experience.
In the midst of their weary work routines, it was a touch of warmth.
“How’s Lulu doing? I feel like I haven’t seen her for a long time. Is everything fine at school?”
“Don’t ask. We had a fight last week.”
“What could you possibly have to argue about?”
“She wants to get cosmetic surgery, and I don’t agree, I find it unsafe, so we ended up fighting.”
“With so many beauties in the entertainment industry, although she isn’t bad-looking, she’s not particularly outstanding either. I can understand why she feels that way.”
“But the thing is, cosmetic surgery itself isn’t safe. I’ve seen so many people on the internet ending up with failed surgeries, leaving them looking neither human nor ghostlike. I’d rather she not join the entertainment industry than become like that.”
“Then just go for minor adjustments, like a simple cut without adding anything. The side effects are minimal, so don’t worry too much.”
“Are you sure it’s safe?” Wang Ying still seemed unsure.
“I’ll perform the surgery myself; how could there be any problems?”n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
“If it’s you handling it, I won’t worry. I wouldn’t trust any other doctor.”
Wang Ying stood up, running her fingers through her hair.
“Sister hasn’t seen you in so long. Let’s not waste time on these matters. Wait here for a moment.”
Wang Ying hurried back to her bedroom and returned with two different styles of black stockings and several sets of lingerie, casting seductive glances at Lin Yi.
“Let’s get started quickly; sister has missed him terribly.”
“Then let’s make each moment as valuable as gold.”
The process that followed was familiar and seamless, poised for a great battle.
Over the next three hours, they shifted battlefields repeatedly.
The sofa, kitchen, bathroom, in front of the mirror, traces of their skirmishes persisted everywhere.
Only the bedroom, a usual spot, was tacitly neglected by them.
Ring, ring, ring—
Just as the first clash ended and they were gearing up for another round, Wang Ying’s phone rang. She picked it up and spat out a comment.
“Finally decided to call me.”
“Sis, what are you up to?”
“Just at home, what’s up?”
“I’m out eating, can you come pick me up?”
“Aren’t you supposed to be at school? Where have you run off to?” Wang Ying’s expression changed, “You didn’t disobey me and go for the surgery, did you?”
“No, I’m with some classmates, and a few directors and producers, eating. But I feel something’s off about their attitude, and I don’t want to stay anymore. Could you come get me?”
“Tell me where you are, I’ll come right now.”
“I’m at the Shangri-La Hotel, room 408.”
“Wait there, I’m coming to get you.”
Hanging up the phone, Wang Ying quickly got up, shedding her scanty clothes, and said to Lin Yi:
“Lulu is out eating with others, and something seems off. Come with me.”
“Eating? With whom?” Lin Yi asked seriously.
“I don’t know who exactly, just some producers and directors.”
“Let’s go check it out together.”
Because of Yan Ci, Lin Yi had some understanding of this industry.
Man or woman, there were hardly any decent people in it.
Lulu, still a student, was definitely vulnerable to being preyed upon in such social settings.
Wang Ying quickly dressed, and then left the house with Lin Yi.
Meanwhile, in the hotel’s fourth-floor women’s restroom, Wang Lu and a middle-aged woman stood anxiously in a corner talking.
“Sister Li, it’s already past 10 PM, I want to go home.”
Wang Lu spoke in a pleading tone, a frown on her face.
The women she called Sister Li, named Li Fengjie, was a lesser-known model agent.
Though she titled herself an agent, she was essentially a panderer,
organizing young college girls and aspiring models for industry big shots to earn a markup.
This time, Wang Lu was her prime selection.
“The dinner isn’t over yet, why do you want to leave?” Li Fengjie said,
“Listen, Director Zhao’s movie is about to start shooting, and they’re scouting for actors. Moreover, he said your appearance and demeanor are quite good, and wants you for the role of the third female lead. If you leave now, you’ll miss out on this film.”
“But I find them intimidating, I don’t feel comfortable sitting at the same table eating with them.”
“Intimidating? Which one are you talking about?”
“The tall, muscular one sitting in the middle.”
“Director Zhao?” Li Fengjie chuckled,
“Zhao is unlike the bosses you’re imagining. He built his success from scratch over more than a decade, so he might seem very serious.”
“You should know, he’s the investor for this film, the final decision rests with him, making him the most important person at this dinner.”
“And let me tell you, many in the arts have that look, not appearing as good people, but in reality, they’re more upright than anyone else. Don’t overthink it, I wouldn’t deceive you, sister.”
“But it’s really getting late.”
“I’ve explained so much, why can’t you understand?” Li Fengjie remarked,
“You’re in your second year now. If you can establish connections in the entertainment industry earlier than others, it could hugely benefit your future. You’d surpass your peers, even your seniors. If you pass up this opportunity, I can’t guarantee anything later.”
Wang Lu appeared confliced, not willing to let go of a chance to become famous.
“Let me think about it. I’ll come back in a bit.”
