I play a Evil God in Otome Game

Chapter 141Dungeons(3/?)

When 10 demon hunters entered the dungeon, what they saw was a plain of natural beauty. As slimes roamed around adorably, Emillia, a blue-haired, green-eyed hunter, was captivated by their cuteness.

"Aren't they just adorable? Aren't these supposed to be demons?"

"I wouldn't underestimate them, Emillia," said Alex, a black-haired young man, calmly. Holding his sword, he cautiously scanned the surroundings.

"Alex is right. After all, this is a demon's nest," said Hagi, drawing his recurve bow with a serious expression. Emillia sighed but said nothing, curiously watching a blue slime approaching her.

"They still look so harmless," Emillia said, unable to resist her curiosity, reaching out to pet the blue slime. Before she could touch it, however, Rodri grabbed the slime, and his glove reddened from the acid's effect.

"These things are dangerous. Don't be fooled by their cute appearance. They're full of acid, likely enough to burn your skin," Rodri remarked sarcastically. Emillia flinched as she saw Rodri's glove burning from the slime's acid.

If she had touched it with her bare hands, her skin would have been covered in acid. Emillia swallowed hard. Meanwhile, Benjamin, one of the group's quieter members, scanned the area with sharp eyes. A man in his 30s with short brown hair and a neatly trimmed beard, he spoke thoughtfully.

"This dungeon feels entirely separate from the world. The eerie silence is far from reassuring," Benjamin remarked, evaluating the area. A bald man named Oliver scoffed at his words.

"Don't be so scared," Oliver said, then glanced at the dungeon with curiosity. "Even if this place is dangerous, we're not ordinary people. Remember, I'm the fastest-rising hunter."

"So what?" asked Jessica, the group's second woman, raising her eyebrows. She brushed her short blonde hair aside, glaring at Oliver disdainfully. "You're the fastest-rising hunter? That's a joke. Unlike you, I'm a far better hunter."

"Really?" Oliver chuckled. Jessica shot him a scornful look. "Yes, really."

"I wasn't the one who climbed ranks by sleeping with the guild master's assistant," Oliver retorted mockingly. Jessica's eyes widened as she glared at him angrily. "Don't slander me, you bastard. I earned my place here. Unlike you, I didn't buy my way in with my father's money."

"Please, calm down," said Kyle, a young man with black hair, nervously. "We're supposed to work together here. If you have issues with each other, resolve them outside."

"Kyle is right," said Ryan, a bespectacled man, trying to ease the tension. However, the group remained uneasy until Owen, a leather-armored man, frowned and spoke up.

"I don't want to waste more time because of you. Let's move," Owen ordered.

"Are you giving me orders?" Oliver asked, his pride hurt. Owen frowned and slightly unsheathed his sword. "Unlike you, I'm a C-rank hunter. You'll listen to me here."

"C-rank?!" Oliver paled. Owen grunted, sheathed his sword, and addressed everyone else. "We need to work as a team here. We don't know what lies ahead, so follow my lead if you want to survive."

Nobody wanted to challenge Owen, the C-rank hunter, so there were no objections. Smiling, Owen continued, "Good. Let's hope we can work well together."

After the group fell silent, Owen assigned roles. Oliver and Owen would lead at the front. Behind them would be Emillia, skilled in healing, protected by Jessica. Kyle, Ryan, and Alev would follow, with three members watching the flanks. Meanwhile, Rodri would guard the rear, assisted by the weaker members, Wesley and Kyle.

According to Owen, securing the front and flanks would ensure the group's survival. Alex, Hagi, and Ryan were average fighters but capable enough. Rodri, the second strongest after Owen and Oliver, would hold the rear. Additionally, Hagi, armed with a recurve bow, would attack demons from the middle.

The plan seemed flawless, but only time would tell. After spending 15 minutes organizing, the group finally moved out.

After an hour of walking, the group stopped to share the loot they had collected. They killed slimes along the way, gathering small gems from their remains. While these gems weren't inherently valuable, their novelty made them highly sought after in the world.

As any savvy person knows, the rarity of an item determines its value. Thus, Owen claimed the largest share as the leader.

Owen took 20% of the loot, with the rest distributed based on strength. Displeased with his share, Oliver grumbled, "This is too little. Why do you get the biggest cut?"

"Because I'm the leader," Owen replied firmly. Jessica chuckled mockingly. "Owen's right. As the leader, he deserves the largest share."

The group was internally annoyed by Jessica's opportunistic behavior. Emillia frowned. "This isn't fair. I think everyone should get an equal share."

Hearing Emillia, Benjamin agreed. "Yes, if we're a team, everyone should have equal rights."

"I'm stronger than you all," Owen retorted. "If you think you can lead, then challenge me. But be prepared for the consequences."

Owen's threat made the group uneasy, but Emillia refused to back down. "After this mission, Lucifer will hear about this. Didn't he set strict rules for demon hunters to share rewards equally?"

Hearing Lucifer's name, everyone realized the situation. Lucifer, a high-ranking member of the Vanguard Demon Hunting Guild, had established rules ensuring equal distribution within hunter groups.

When Owen heard Lucifer's name, he simply scoffed. "Lucifer isn't here. Besides, isn't he reliant on humanity? I'm one of the rare C-rank hunters. He can't touch me."

"Don't flatter yourself, Owen," Oliver mocked. "My father is close friends with the founder of Vanguard and knows Lucifer. He despises rule-breakers. This won't go unnoticed."

Owen grunted, grabbing Oliver by the collar and pulling him close. Stunned by the sudden display of strength, Oliver was silenced as Owen punched him hard. The mana-infused glove left Oliver's eye bruised as he fell to the ground.

"No defiance. If you die here, no one will know," Owen said disdainfully. "So stop complaining."

The group, pitying Oliver, remained silent and pale. Meanwhile, Jessica smiled slyly at her new target. "Owen's right. Strength lies in unity. Following his lead benefits us all."

Owen smiled at Jessica. "It's good to hear someone agrees with me."

Jessica simply smiled back. After a brief 10-minute rest, the group continued. Despite his anger, Oliver stayed silent, not wanting to draw Owen's attention.

Two hours later, the group reached the 15th floor of the dungeon. Unlike the slime-infested floor, this one was teeming with goblins. The disgusting green creatures snarled at the scent of humans, and Owen quickly organized the group.

As the goblins attacked chaotically, Hagi's arrows pierced several of them. Owen and Oliver fought tensely, but the goblins seemed endless.

"Watch out!"

Emilla screamed in fear. Alex quickly turned his sword and raised his arm to protect himself from the Goblin leaping at him. The Goblin bit into Alex's arm, causing him to groan in pain.

"Get off me!" Alex shouted as he swiftly drove his sword into the Goblin's stomach. As the Goblin died, Alex clutched his arm in pain. The group's formation was breaking apart, while Rodri threw powerful punches, smashing the faces of the Goblins.

"Ahhh!" Jessica was suddenly grabbed by a Goblin and thrown aside. "Help—help me!"

Owen instinctively looked around, expertly cutting down the Goblins attacking him. He was the most efficient member of the group, but the Goblins were overwhelming in number.

Despite fighting for 20 minutes, it seemed like the battle would never end. Owen continued to take down Goblins in an effort to rescue Jessica.

"Thank you," Jessica cried out in fear. Owen said nothing. The group's formation was already falling apart. Alex was injured, and Wesley was paralyzed with fear. The only option left was to flee.

"Everyone! Run to the next dungeon level!"

At Owen's command, the group organized themselves to retreat to the upper level of the dungeon. As they fled, they opened the dungeon gate and rushed inside. When Emilla noticed Wesley lagging behind, she wanted to stay back to help him, but Alex grabbed her arm and pulled her through the gate.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

As the others focused on escaping, Owen frowned. Wesley was too slow, and they wouldn't be able to close the dungeon gate until he made it through.

"Sorry, kid, but we're leaving you here."

"What?! Why?"

Without giving an answer, Owen kicked Wesley in the stomach, causing him to fall to the ground. Owen quickly fled, leaving Wesley to act as bait.

It worked. As the rest of the group escaped, the Goblins swarmed Wesley, devouring him alive. Wesley's screams and cries echoed through the dungeon.

By the time the group reached the other side, they collapsed in relief.

"Alex! Are you okay?" Emilla asked anxiously, examining his arm. Alex managed a weak smile. "I'm fine. It's just a bite. This won't stop me."

"Take this and drink it," Emilla said, pulling a potion from her pouch and offering it to Alex. Alex hesitated. "Emilla, you worked hard to get this. Don't waste it on me."

"Shut up and drink it, Alex," Emilla snapped, forcing the potion into his mouth. The potion's effects quickly healed Alex's arm, while Owen looked at the group with a serious expression.

Things were harder than expected. What was Vanguard Demon Hunting thinking when they sent them here? Was this place truly an E-rank dungeon?

The problem was simple. The Vanguard ranking system for dungeons wasn't fully established yet. An E-rank dungeon was supposed to be equivalent to 2-3 C-rank groups, but this was far worse.

On top of that, there were inexperienced hunters like Jessica and Oliver, who had climbed the ranks through connections. This was a significant issue, one that Lucifer would have to address in the future.

An E-rank dungeon should have been manageable for an E-rank group, yet despite having a C-rank member, the dungeon was still overwhelming.

The system was new and had its flaws, but perhaps it could be improved over time.

"What do we do now? Should we go back?" Kyle asked worriedly. Benjamin immediately objected. "If we do that, our reputation and the company's image will take a hit. We have to leave here successfully."

"Benjamin is right. People are expecting great things from us. If we disappoint them, it'll be the end for us."

As much as they didn't want to admit it, this was the truth. The media, social networks, and even the Prime Minister were waiting for positive results. Failure wasn't an option—it was mandatory to succeed.

"There's no choice. We move forward," Owen said seriously. As the group prepared themselves once again, this time, they were more determined. No one wanted to fail.

Without hesitation, they pressed onward to the next level of the dungeon.
