I Play the Horror World as a Simulation Game

Chapter 116: Position substitution, abide by the law!

"Creak, creak—bang! Bang! Bang!"

A battered bus emerged from the mist, panting as it approached and finally stopped at a bus stop by a roadside sign.

"Unnamed Road, Ceng Village, arrived. Passengers, please take your belongings and get off. Next stop..."

Qin Nuo got off the bus. By now, the sky was completely dark, and the pitch-black night covered every corner of the city.

In the distance, the lights of the Red Moon Convenience Store flickered on and off. In the darkness, the scarlet light pierced through the night, resembling a red moon hanging in the dusky sky.

The door swung open. Li Tongtong, who was leaning on the cashier's counter, bored and twirling a pen, stood up with a start when she saw Qin Nuo enter. "Boss, you're back so soon?"

Qin Nuo nodded, glanced at Yuan Shan, who was still engrossed in his PSP, and called out to him. Yuan Shan quickly looked up, greeted the boss, and then buried his head back into his game, his addiction comparable to the child in Room 301.

Qin Nuo didn't reprimand him, as it was the employees' rest time at night. He casually asked, "Liao Shen hasn't returned yet?"

"No."

Li Tongtong looked outside, pouted, and said, "There were some things causing trouble outside again. I strangled a few, but the rest ran away."

Qin Nuo wasn't sure if the things Li Tongtong mentioned were ghosts and asked, "Were they sent by the Other Shore Convenience Store again?"

"There's no one else but them."

"Every night, they send those annoying flies to cause trouble and destruction!" Li Tongtong was both angry and helpless.

"Boss, didn't you say you were going to solve it? Do you have a plan?"

Qin Nuo took a sip of mineral water from the vending machine ghost and tossed the empty bottle into the trash can. He said, "I was planning to solve it tomorrow, but time is tight. Let's take action tonight."

Li Tongtong's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Boss, are you going to charge in alone, wipe them out, and then drag out the boss behind the scenes to force an unfair agreement?"

"Have you read too many novels or watched too many war films?"

"According to your logic, I might as well offer my head to them directly." Qin Nuo chuckled. Why did Li Tongtong and Yuan Shan, these two adorable employees, always think he was so impressive?

Li Tongtong let out an "oh" and was about to ask something else when Qin Nuo stopped her. "Take care of the store, I'll be back."

With that, he gave a couple of reminders to Yuan Shan, the game-addicted boy, and prepared to leave.

At that moment, a bolt of lightning tore through the pitch-black sky, a brief flash of daylight that seemed to split the sky in two.

Soon after, water spots appeared on the ground, and a gentle rain began to wash away the oppressive air of the night.

"Is it raining?" Qin Nuo was a bit surprised, but considering the perpetual night, it didn't seem too strange.

Li Tongtong eagerly handed him an umbrella. "Boss, walk slowly in the rain; the road is slippery!"

Qin Nuo took the black hooked umbrella, nodded, and opened it, disappearing into the rainy night.

Naturally, Qin Nuo was heading to the headquarters of the Other Shore Convenience Store. Since they were determined to swallow his store, as the boss, he couldn't just sit back and do nothing. 𝖗

"The two trump cards I just acquired seem to be coming in handy."

As Qin Nuo muttered to himself, the gentle rain turned into a downpour, and several ghostly shadows quickly vanished by the roadside.

The scarlet light reflected on Qin Nuo's face as he raised his head, wearing a long trench coat, and looked at the large sign.

After pondering for a moment, he opened the system panel and took out a position card from the toolbar.

"Use position card."

"The position card has been used for the host. Please select a private enterprise."

"Other Shore Convenience Store, select position: store manager." Qin Nuo touched his nose, honestly feeling a bit whimsical.

In fact, his guess was correct.

"Position replacement failed, reason: no vacancy in this position."

"So, a position can only be replaced if there's a vacancy."

Qin Nuo whispered, reporting positions like deputy manager and supervisor, but they were all filled, leaving only the vacant positions for him.

"Is the store's welfare so good that no ghost employee wants to resign?" Qin Nuo was a bit troubled.

In the end, he could only place the position at the grassroots level.

There were plenty of vacancies for grassroots positions like cashier, stock clerk, and janitor.

"Starting from the grassroots level makes it a lot more challenging."

"The cashier's freedom is too limited, and the janitor doesn't have much free time, so it can only be the stock clerk."

After some thought, Qin Nuo confirmed the stock clerk position.

"Ding, the position of stock clerk has been loaded for the host. Replacement successful. The host is now a stock clerk at the Other Shore Convenience Store. The identity can be canceled at any time, but the position card will become invalid upon cancellation."

With that, an employee card and a set of work clothes appeared in the toolbar.

Qin Nuo, holding the umbrella, entered a lane to avoid the rain.

Five minutes later, he emerged in a new outfit, adjusted the collar of his shirt, and wore a professional smile.

Then, he walked toward the store entrance not far away.

"Charging in alone is foolish. It's better to infiltrate the enemy and cut off their resources. It's more direct and effective."n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

As he stepped into the store entrance and put away the umbrella, water droplets splashed onto the floor.

Qin Nuo pushed open the glass door and walked in with wet shoes.

The store's interior was somewhat different from what he had imagined.

Perhaps due to the rain and the night, it was empty inside, with no ghostly shadows. Maybe they were saving electricity, or perhaps they were too poor to afford it, as only a few bulbs were lit, flickering with poor contact.

In some corners, it was as dark as ink, making it impossible to see anything and creating a sense of unease.

Besides eerie and terrifying, Qin Nuo couldn't think of any other words to describe it.

"In the Horror World, there's nothing that doesn't involve horror. It's not surprising when you think about it."

Qin Nuo called out, but there was no response.

But in the next second, an unknown horror sound suddenly came from his ear.

Qin Nuo turned his head and saw a doll sitting on a potted plant.

He instantly felt a chill.

The doll was incredibly lifelike, its face seemingly made of human skin, with several hideous, bright red scars. It wore denim overalls.

A blood-stained knife was clutched in its hand.

"Child's Play!"

The image immediately popped into Qin Nuo's mind, a childhood nightmare for a generation.

The doll's eyes moved, slowly aligning its face with Qin Nuo's, the knife in its hand still dripping with blood, as if it had just finished cutting something.

"Are you the new stock clerk?"

Despite the doll's appearance triggering childhood fears, Qin Nuo quickly composed himself and nodded.

"Shelves 25 to 50 are under your care. Wages are settled daily. Arrange the goods neatly, discard expired items into the recycling basket, and fulfill customer needs."

"If there are work errors, customer dissatisfaction, or other incompetence, two minor penalties will be given, and three will result in automatic dismissal."

With that, the doll let out a strange laugh, turned around with the bloody knife, and vanished into the darkness...

Qin Nuo put on the employee card, watching the spot where the doll disappeared, a smile forming on his lips.

"Don't worry, I'll be a law-abiding employee."
