Chapter 1164 Speculation
Ignoring Dilitrio's outburst, Kyran launched a sudden attack. His target was not Dilitrio, who was retreating to gain distance, but the floor beneath them.
BAM!
The floor exploded, creating a crater almost the same size as Dilitrio's Area magic.
Kyran did not destroy the arena to counter Dilitrio's Area magic or to increase the low visibility. The additional cloud of smoke and commotion would not affect the senses of the dragons watching from the audience or the hovering platforms. Instead, he destroyed the arena so he could force Dilitrio back while he prepared a surefire move to force everyone's gaze away from the arena.
With Dilitrio's poison negating Kyran's use of Draconic magic, he could not use it. Thus, instinctively,
Kyran used the Void mainly because it was the magic that could easily counter the poison's effect. However, that was not the only magic at his disposal.
Kyran had only tried it a few times before, but he could use other magic without relying on the Draconic's Chaos nature or the Void's volatile nature. The only downside to it was that he had to absorb the magic energy specific to that type in order to use it. Once he exhausted the magic energy, he would no longer be able to use it until he could absorb it again.
That was the case when Kyran managed to absorb and learn Light magic. In the end, he used the Void to adapt to the Light's magic concept without trying to absorb its magic energy in order to use it.
With that in mind, Kyran started to rouse his third magic core and circulate one of the many magic energies within for the first time in a while.
Dragons having natural enhanced senses was great. But it could also be a double-edged sword.
Why?
Depending on the situation, one could target one of one's senses and make it useless, like one's sight, for example.
Kyran's eyes flashed. Following this was a blinding light that filled the whole arena.
"!"
Everyone in the dome was surprised at the sudden flash of light. In particular, the dragons were forced to close their eyes because the light was too blinding for their enhanced sight.
Only a few of them managed to endure the light by narrowing their eyes slightly.
"How can you use other magic while inside my area magic?" Dilitrio burst out in both anger and shock.
The poison in the air should have prevented Kyran from trying to absorb the natural magic energies in the surroundings; otherwise, the poison would have mixed with the energy and entered his system.
It should be noted that while a mage could summon another magic type that was different from their innate magic, they could not store their magic energy in their magic core.
Obviously, one's magic core should only be able to absorb the energy that corresponds to one's innate magic.
Your journey continues on empire
Because of this universal truth, Dilitrio never considered the possibility that Kyran had Light magic energy in his magic core and, thus, could summon it without absorbing the magic energies in his surroundings. Then again, the fact that Kyran had four magic cores was already an impossible feat. So, it was not really strange for Dilitrio not to consider it.
Kyran ignored Dilitrio's outburst and used that chance to close in on him.
For the record, Kyran was not unaffected by the Light magic's blinding attack. But since he knew what was about to happen, he was able to close in time just in time. Light exploded and covered the whole arena. Because of that, his eyes adjusted faster to the light than the audience, who intently watched what was happening in the arena.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Kyran closed in on Dilitrio and launched an attack.
However, Dilitrio took that opportunity to prove why he was considered among the young rising talents of the Venom Dragon Tribe. Even with his loss of sight, he did not falter. Relying on his natural instinct, he was aware that Kyran was onto him.
Dilitrio, with his eyes still closed, summoned the poisonous air around him. He did this not because he believed Kyran would stop if the concentration of poison were centered on him. Instead, he used it to create something akin to a limb.
The poisonous air gathered around Dilitrio's body faster than Kyran could approach him. After that, a dragon tail appeared behind him, looking more like a scorpion's stinger than a fleshy one.
"!"
Kyran abruptly stopped from approaching Dilitrio's tail, which was made of poison, and shot upward; its stinger pointed at Kyran.
Whoosh!
Half a breath later, the stinger shot off a concentrated poisonous attack at Kyran.
Kyran jumped back in time to avoid getting hit by the dense poison fog. While in midair, he spread his arms and summoned another magic to protect him.
A barrier resembling dragon scales but with a green tint appeared around him, protecting him from the poison attack. This was a barrier made out of poison that he had absorbed when he first encountered the Manticore.
Though the Poison magic energy in Kyran's magic core was smaller than Light magic, and its quality was weaker than Dilitrio's, it was enough to use as a one-time barrier against the latter's poison.
Dilitrio's sight was still down, and he did not see what Kyran did. But that did not matter. He did not want to stop his momentum at just one attack.
After launching a concentrated poison attack, Dilitrio gathered the remaining poisonous air in his arms. They then turned into huge gauntlets that exuded with poison steam. He slashed out wildly in front of him, and blade-like poison flashed out from the gauntlets, destroying the ground and even slashing at the Light still covering the entire arena.
Kyran had no trouble evading Dilitrio's attack. However, he barely had time to catch his breath when the latter attacked again.
'If this continues, the blinding effect of Light magic will wear off before I can approach him,' he thought while avoiding another concentrated poison attack from Dilitrio's poison tail. 'Should I cast another Light attack?'
Just as Kyran wondered this, he shook his head and rejected the idea. The remaining Light magic energy in his magic core was only good enough to create another similar attack with a smaller area. Once the first Light attack disappeared, and Dilitrio noticed that the second Light attack had a far smaller area of effect, he could step away from its range to regain sight.
After that, he could do anything to Kyran.
'Let's fight poison with poison then,' Kyran thought as he made use of another magic concept he learned from Keita, the Forest Dragon Tribe's talent. However, instead of targeting a location, he targeted another being.
Kyran had an inkling that he could use his Servants' innate magic since he absorbed them into his fourth magic core. However, apart from Gael, whose Shadow magic's nature had similarities to the Void and was easier to sense, he could not do the same with the others. And when he said the others, that included the other beasts, Akish, Kessiah, and the rest.
However, after watching Keita use Nature magic to summon forest elements available in her birth forest, Kyran had a better idea of how he could use their innate magic.
The key to channeling their innate magic was understanding the flow of their internal magic energy to a deeper level. As long as he succeeded, he could create a stronger connection with them, thus allowing him to use their innate magic.
Right now, the innate magic he needed was Kessiah's. With her magic core manifesting as an armor and weapon, he could defend and attack as he saw fit.
Kyran's priority was not to attack, though. So, using the armor aspect of Kessiah's magic was enough.
A red armor slowly enveloped Kyran's whole body and protected him from the poison needles that Dilitrio shot at him from the poison tail's stinger. The red armor was not as sturdy as a dragon's scales, but it was enough to stop the needles from grazing his skin.
No matter how high Kyran's poison resistance was, he did not want to take the risk with Dilitrio's poison, especially since he did not know its composition.
"How are you able to mold armor?" Dilitrio demanded in annoyance. He was not really waiting for a response when he asked that and continued to bombard Kyran with the poison needles and a fog-like concentrated poison attack.
Kyran still ignored Dilitrio's outburst and only focused on dodging the latter's attack.
The poison needles were quite hard to avoid because of their sheer number and being packed densely together. Because of this, cracks started to appear on the red armor where the needles touched, and the poison that managed to seep into its surface began to erode it.
Kyran continued to reinforce the armor. But because it was magic he only borrowed from Kessiah, it would only be a matter of time before he could no longer use it.
