Chapter 343: Conqueror's Aura
Chapter 343: Conqueror's Aura
Adam looked around the carriage with a startled look.
He was back.
His friends, who'd been through it all with him, were all sitting around him, doing their own things while waiting for the carriage to reach their destination.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
'A letter.' Adam looked at the letter inside his hands and, with shaking hands, opened it.
'I always wondered what she wrote to me.'
Adam started skimming through the contents of the letter.
'Adam, I received a word that you're going over to the Black Sea for a moment. I heard it is a very dangerous area, so I hope you're going to be careful and safe.'
While reading it, he imagined Lady Yu writing it at her desk with the moonlight filtering through the window.
"Oh, you opened it." Liam leaned over. "What'cha reading~"
"None of your business." Adam's voice turned cold.
"Oof..." Liam raised his hands innocently. "What's with that tone? I was just curious..."
'Hard to act normal when I know all of them are going to betray me in about ten minutes.'
Adam shook his head and quickly finished the letter.
'When you're back at the mainland, Star Faction's war efforts will already be in full swing, and the church will have your full support.
'However, there is something I'd like to offer you.
'I am not sure if you've ever heard of holy ceremonies. In that, holy priestesses offer their strength to warrior of their choosing; I'd like that to be you.
'Think about it.
'Yours truly, Yu.'
"..." Adam gently closed the letter and pocketed it inside his coat.
"We're about to arrive!" Nikholas' rough voice came from outside.
The horse's neigh sounded, and the carriage's wheels rolled down to the stop.
"Alright, time to go!" Liam patted his hands together, feeling clearly excited about something.
"..." Adam joined everyone off the carriage and then turned his gaze to the mountain.
With his Kiryoku, which was now level 5, he managed to sense a living being inside the mountain.
After coming back to this timeline, he still regained the strength of the other timeline. He was still Grand Lord.
"Alright, we should go!" Liam shouted to the others.
'Again with that shouting.' Adam thought. 'It was to announce to Calamity our arrival? I am sure he already knows with his Kiryoku.'
"Mm." Lisa, his sister, nodded with a slight nervousness in her eyes. "Let's get this done with."
They waited for Adam to take the lead, and as soon as he walked past them, they followed closely after.
They stepped through the door-like entrance and into the mountain.
When they reached the end of the mountainy hallway, they reached a large room with a stone pedestal in the middle.
A clearly former Boss Room.
Tap, tap, tap.
At that moment, footsteps sounded at the end of the room as a crimson-haired man arrived, his hands clapping together with a sound that resembled a thunderclap.
Everyone's, except Adam's, expressions changed.
Nikholas looked deadly serious.
Amelia held her other arm and just looked away, knowing that there was no going back anymore.
Lisa and Liam looked at Adam's back.
Liam slowly retrieved a needle from his hidden belt pocket. It was containing Chaosbeing Essence, a powerful poison that could paralyze anyone below Grand Lord.
"Calamity." Adam said calmly.
"Hahaha." Calamity laughed heartily. "Sup, bitch?"
At that moment, a sharp needle stabbed Adam at the back of his neck.
Adam quickly swatted it away and turned to Liam, who looked pale-faced but was still grinning after seeing that he managed to successfully poison him.
"Liam, you..." Adam's legs trembled, and he fell down on his knees. "W-w-why?"
"I swear, it is nothing personal." Liam said. "However, Calamity promised us a seat in his council after Death Faction wins the war."
"I see..." Adam looked at everyone. "You were all on board with this? You schemed behind my back?"
"We followed you all this time, but we cannot follow you on this path." Amelia walked past him and hooked arms with Calamity like lovers. "Death Faction will win this war. We chose
the winning side."
"Heh." Calamity grinned. "A wise choice, even if I say so myself."
"We're sorry, Adam." Lisa said softly. "Now, go live your life outside this game. I want you to be happy."
"Haa..." Adam looked at her with a cold look. "Happy? How can I trust anyone after what you all did to me? Ten years... ten fucking years of knowing all of you fuckers."
"Begging won't do you much, Adam." Liam retrieved his sword. "Die like a man, Adam."
He raised the sword and hacked it down, but before it could make his head roll down the floor,
a hand grabbed it.
"Wait, a moment, Liam." Calamity, holding the sword, said with a smile. "This is my kill,
after all~"
"O-oh, of course, sir." Liam bowed down and sheathed his sword.
Calamity turned to Adam and patted him in the head. "I really don't see what Lady Yu and that
bitch Sapphira saw in you. You're utterly pathetic."
"I was wondering that myself." Adam's legs started to slowly move as he began standing up.
"I think they saw something in me that I myself hadn't."
"?!" Calamity frowned and looked at Liam. "Didn't you poison this bastard?"
"I-I did!" Liam shouted and showed the needle. "Chaosbeing Essence!"
"Tch, worthless." Calamity pulled out his mighty sword. "Fine, I'll just hack off his legs."
"Hmph." Adam shook his head and whispered. "You bystanders, kneel down."
Conqueror's Aura!
A powerful aura swept through the room, and everyone except Calamity and Adam collapsed
on their knees with their faces heavy against the ground, unable to resist the overwhelming
force.
"W-w-what the hell is this?!" Liam screamed while his face kept getting crushed.
"?!?!?!" Amelia panicked and barely managed to look at Adam, who seemed like a mighty
existence.
"A-A-A-Adam?" Lisa whispered in shock.
Nikholas couldn't utter another word as his face was almost buried in the ground.
"Conqueror's Aura?!" Calamity cried out. "That's Grand Lord power..."
"You're not the only Conqueror here." Adam said coldly.
"That's impossible!" Calamity swung his sword in anger. Adam stepped over the sword and stomped it down to the ground.
When the two opposing forces clashed, the whole room started shaking.
At that moment, it was clear to everyone that the two were equal in strength! At least that's how it seemed at first glance.
