Chapter 1362: 1361 Exotic Scenery
The plane took off quickly, flying from the Capital to the capital of Country J, a fifteen-hour journey. Midway, the plane would stop in another country for an hour, during which passengers could buy what they needed or use the restroom.
This was Tan Rou’s first flight to a western country, so she also disembarked during the layover. Country J, their destination, was a landlocked nation with no sea on any side, and the climate was rather dry; hence, the closer they flew to Country J, the stronger the sandstorms became.
The airport where they stopped was not within the borders of Country J, but it was also a landlocked nation with a similarly dry climate. Now, being summer in the northern hemisphere, the airport felt like a massive furnace.
Shang Jin followed Tan Rou off the plane, and as soon as she stepped outside, she felt a wave of heat blast her face, so she immediately covered her head with her hat and took out a portable fan to blow at herself.
“Oh my god, I must be crazy; otherwise, I definitely wouldn’t choose to travel to a landlocked country during this season,” Shang Jin said, hand on her brow and eyes gazing into the distant land, a look of agony on her face, “My eyes hurt just seeing that sandstorm, as if the sand has already flown into my eyes.”
Lang Yue was the last one out, and upon hearing Shang Jin’s words, he immediately said, “I just told you, the terrain here is quite flat, and the surroundings are gravelly, so a lot of sand gets blown up by the wind.”
Shang Jin asked, “Did you bring any goggles? Quickly lend me a pair to block the sand; otherwise, my eyes are going to be ruined.”
Lang Yue said, “No, if you want goggles, you can buy a pair on the plane, I just saw a flight attendant selling them.”
Shang Jin, with a grim expression, said, “I’m not buying, everything is too expensive on the plane, I can’t afford it. ”
The outside was incredibly hot, and Tan Rou also felt her head ache from the intense sunshine. Wiping the sweat on her face, she said, “Once we arrive in Country J, everyone should apply a layer of sunscreen to avoid getting sunburned.”
Shang Jin waved her hand weakly and said, “No more, I can’t stand being out in the sun any longer; if I stay in the sun a bit more, I feel like I’ll turn into a mummy from an ancient tomb.”
Lang Yue frowned slightly and said, “Can you not mention something so gruesome?”
Shang Jin said, “Believe me, I’m not talking about a horror movie, I’m stating the facts.”
Hearing her say this, Lang Yue also felt his face stinging from the sun. He quickly put on the hat from his T-shirt and said, “Boss, haven’t you seen enough? I think there is nothing to see here but the plane or the sandstorm. We should head back to the plane early.”
Tan Rou was just feeling a bit stuffy from being on the plane for so long. She initially thought about stepping outside for fresh air, but it was unexpectedly hot outside; if she tried to get some air here, she figured she would be cooked alive before breathing freely.
“Alright, you guys go ahead,” Tan Rou said. “I’ll follow you.”
Just as they were preparing to board the plane, they suddenly heard a fierce shout, “Stop, don’t come any closer!”
Tan Rou and her companions understood the words, so they subconsciously turned back to look.
A skinny child was running towards them, with two men in uniform chasing him, holding sticks about half a meter long, very much resembling police batons.
Shang Jin asked, “Are those two men police officers? Why are they chasing a child?”
Lang Yue caught sight of what the child was holding and then said, “Probably a thief. The public security in this country isn’t very good, and maybe the airport security isn’t effective either. This kid is either a local who sneaked in to steal things or a foreigner abandoned here.”n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
“Should we help the police catch him?” Shang Jin was reluctant to get involved in others’ affairs.
Tan Rou didn’t want any trouble either. She said, “Let’s head back to the plane. Those two police officers are quite fast; the child won’t be able to outrun them.”
After saying this, she turned to leave.
“Help me!” The frail young boy let out several desperate screams. “Please… save me!”
Although Shang Jin didn’t understand his words, she could tell from his wailing that he was begging for help.
“Poor kid!” Though Shang Jin felt sympathy for him, she did not interfere with the police’s actions, as they were officers from another country handling their duties; they couldn’t interfere.
