Chapter 333: A Blessing In Disguise
Chapter 333: A Blessing In Disguise
Hearing Li Tianyu's question, Yao Ran nodded, "Sure. Everyone with injuries, please follow me to the treatment room."
After hearing her explanation, no one dared take even a minor wound lightly. They all
followed Yao Ran to the treatment room, where she examined and treated everyone's injuries for nearly two hours.
When she finished bandaging the last soldier, Yao Ran said, "I will ask Aunty Han and Aunty Sima to prepare some nourishing meals for everyone."
Li Tianyu nodded and asked, "Miss Yao, how much do we need to pay for the deformation medicine and other medicines?"
Hearing his question, Yao Ran smiled, "I will let you know the price after you finish considering our offer."
Realizing she was referring to their offer to join her group, Li Tianyu could only reply, "I will give you our answer before we leave."
Satisfied with his response, Yao Ran said, "It's late now. You should all head back and get some rest. And remember, don't let the wounds get wet, or they will get infected."
Nodding at her words, Li Tianyu and the soldiers said, "Yes, Miss Yao."
After everyone had left, Long Yu squatted in front of Yao Ran, held her hand, and asked, "Are you tired?"
Yao Ran smiled at him and replied, "I'm fine. What happened today is really a blessing in disguise."
Long Yu frowned slightly and nodded in agreement. "Mhm. If not for those two soldiers, we might not have discovered that the deformed monsters already can infect people through their flesh and bodily fluids."
He paused to think before adding, "I think we should inform the public about this so survivors can take precautions when fighting against the deformed monsters."
Yao Ran agreed, "You are right. In addition to spreading awareness about this, I think we should also distribute the lake water to the public."
"With more people drinking the lake water, the chances of them turning into deformed monsters will decrease, and the number of ability users should increase. That way, humanity will have a better chance of surviving at the end of the world."
Hearing this, Long Yu asked, with a hint of concern, "Wouldn't it be dangerous for you if people found out the source of the lake water?"
Yao Ran gently patted his hand and reassured him, "Don't worry. I will only distribute diluted lake water to the public. Although it's not as effective as the pure lake water, it can still cure deformations if they drink a bit more of it."
Long Yu thought for a moment before sighing, "Alright. Since you have made up your mind, I will support your decision."
Yao Ran hugged him and said, "Thank you, A Yu."
Because the two soldiers were still unconscious, Li Tianyu had no choice but to wait for them to wake up before leaving for the Juncheng Military Base.
Two days later, Yao Ran went to check on the soldiers in the morning. When she pushed open the ward door, she saw the soldiers awake and sitting on their beds, looking confused.
"How are you feeling?" She asked as she stepped into the room.
The soldiers turned to look at her, and one of them asked, "Miss, what happened to us?"
Yao Ran took out her stethoscope from the medicine box on the glass cabinet and asked, "What is the last thing you remember?"
The soldier thought for a moment before replying, "I remember my head hurting so much. After that, I don't recall anything."
Hearing his response, Yao Ran began checking his pulse and blood pressure.
After confirming that his condition was normal, she explained, "Comrade, you were injured by deformed monsters and were on the verge of mutating into one. You are lucky we had the deformation medicine on hand and treated you before the mutation was complete."
The soldiers were stunned by her words. Seeing their shock, Yao Ran calmly asked, "Do you feel anything unusual after waking up?"
The second soldier opened his palm and said, "I don't know why, but my palm always becomes wet no matter how many times I wipe it."
Yao Ran turned to the first soldier and asked, "What about you? Do you feel anything strange?"
The soldier hesitated before shaking his head, then nodded.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Noticing her raised eyebrows, he scratched his head and confusedly said, "I'm not sure what
is happening, but my vision is much clearer than before. I could even clearly see the particles in the air."
Yao Ran nodded at the two of them and said, "Congratulations. You have both awakened abilities."
The soldiers were shocked when she said that.
Yao Ran looked at the first soldier and said, "Comrade, you have awakened a super-vision ability."
Then, turning to the second soldier, she smiled and said, "And you have awakened a water element ability. It's normal to have difficulty controlling your abilities right after awakening. With a little training, you will be fine."
Impressed by her knowledge of abilities, the soldiers exchanged glances before one of them asked, "Are you a scientist?"
Yao Ran paused for a moment before continuing to pack away her stethoscope. "I'm just an ordinary survivor," she said.
She then added, "Since you two are awake, please head to the dining room to get something to eat. You have had a fever for two days, are malnourished, and are still very weak. I have informed the aunties to prepare more nutritious meals. Remember to eat them to regain your strength as quickly as possible."
Realizing she didn't want to elaborate further about abilities, the soldiers got out of bed and said, "Thank you, Miss."
Yao Ran nodded, "Captain Li is in the training room. After eating, you can go find him there." The soldiers nodded in unison, "Alright."
After they left the infirmary, Yao Ran washed her hands, returned the medicine box to the glass cabinet, and headed to the dining room for breakfast.
Now that the soldiers had woken up, Li Tianyu would likely leave for the Juncheng Military Base as soon as they were ready. Since she was going with them, she also needed to prepare.
