Chapter 5580: War Goddess Jiang Yue’e
They were all old acquaintances from the Martial Heaven Continent, but Feng Fei and Mo Nian had never interacted much.
Mo Nian shared a close bond with Long Chen. On the other hand, Long Chen’s relationship with Feng Fei had always been ambiguous—neither enemies nor true friends. As a result, Mo Nian had never gotten to know her well. To him, she was simply one of the most brilliant heavenly geniuses from the four divine families.
Yet, here she was, saving him and Long Chen in their moment of crisis.
“Mo Nian, I didn’t expect you to remember me. I’m honored,” said Feng Fei with a slight smile.
After all, they were all old acquaintances. As they didn’t have any conflicts with each other, they could be considered friends.
“Many thanks, Fairy Feng Fei. You came at just the right time. Without you, the two of us would have been mincemeat,” Long Chen said, gratitude evident in his tone.
Though Long Chen still had trump cards, using them now would have come at an incalculable cost. Among his cards, the Earth Cauldron was the most precious. If its advancement were delayed, it could spell disaster for him.
“So, he is the Long Chen you always mentioned?” asked someone.
At this moment, a group of people approached. Seeing them, Long Chen and Mo Nian finally looked at their surroundings and realized that this was no ordinary space.
The golden chariot contained its own domain, and the room they were in was luxurious, part of a grand palace. A tall, icy-faced woman was leading this group of people, her presence demanding attention. Her hair was styled in a phoenix bun, her skin as flawless as white jade, and her eyes like stars reflecting distant light. Every inch of her being seemed sculpted by a divine artisan, yet her beauty was overshadowed by an imposing coldness that kept others at a distance.
Her air of grandeur was so overwhelming, as if no one else within the nine heavens could enter her eyes.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
What truly shocked Long Chen and Mo Nian wasn’t her appearance, but the aura around her. They could faintly discern seven ethereal dragon figures coiling protectively around her.
“A seven-vein Heaven Saint!” exclaimed Mo Nian.
This woman was the strongest Heaven Saint they had encountered in the Heaven Vein Mystic Realm. Her power explained her control over the three monstrous tigers. She wasn’t just powerful—she was a force of nature.
The group behind her was equally intimidating; even the weakest among them were five-vein Heaven Saints. Their lineup made Long Chen suck in a cold gasp of air.
The woman looked at Long Chen and Mo Nian coldly, but the other heavenly geniuses of the Jiang clan were less reserved about showing their disdain.
Feng Fei spoke, breaking the silence. “Long Chen, allow me to introduce you. This is our Jiang clan’s greatest heavenly genius, known as the War Goddess since the primal chaos era—Fairy Jiang Yue’e.”
Although they were acting incredibly haughty, in the end, they had saved their lives. So, Long Chen cupped his fists toward her and greeted, “Many thanks for saving our lives, Fairy Yue’e. I will remember this favor.”
Jiang Yue’e didn’t return the gesture. Instead, she studied Long Chen and Mo Nian, her gaze sharp and unyielding. After a moment, she remarked, “His looks aren’t bad, but his power is completely mediocre. The Heaven Vein Mystic Realm has been open for this long, yet he hasn’t advanced at all. And as for the other one… Not only is his power mediocre, but even his looks are subpar. Feng Fei, you’ve truly disappointed me.”
This evaluation left Long Chen speechless. But at the very least, he had gotten some praise for his looks.
Mo Nian, on the other hand, couldn’t hide the twitch in his expression. He wanted to retort but found no words. The atmosphere was extremely awkward.
Feng Fei quickly said, “Big sister Yue’e, Long Chen is extremely powerful. There must be a reason neither of them has advanced yet.”
“No no no… In truth, I’ve always been very weak. But since my looks are decent, I’ve managed to survive to this day,” Long Chen interjected, not trying to argue against Jiang Yue’e iciness.
Long Chen’s humorous reply surprised Jiang Yue’e. Looking at Mo Nian, she asked, “If he relied on his face, what did you rely on?”
Without missing a beat, Mo Nian shot back, “Of course I relied on shamelessly having no face.”
Their humorous replies broke the tension. Using this chance, Long Chen said, “Alright, Feng Fei, thank you for today. I’ll remember this favor. I’m sure you’re all very busy, so we won’t disturb you any longer. Let us meet again.”
Feng Fei nodded, understanding the awkwardness of the situation. It was better to part ways before their relationship soured.
With a wave of her hand, Long Chen and Mo Nian vanished from the chariot.
Once they were gone, Jiang Yue’e frowned. “Feng Fei, is he really as strong as you’ve claimed? Neither of them seems like a peerless expert. They lack the domineeringness that peerless experts should have. They even endured my insults willingly.” 𝘳
Clearly, Feng Fei had brought up Long Chen’s name to Jiang Yue’e more than once. Because of it, Jiang Yue’e became curious about him, but she was disappointed by what she saw.
Feng Fei smiled faintly. “Big sister Yue’e, Long Chen is a very unique individual. It’s hard to describe what makes him special, but I’m confident you’ll see his true strength soon enough.”
“Tch, hopefully he won’t be this weak next time,” snorted one person.
“Assuming he’s not dead,” another sneered.
The group viewed Long Chen and Mo Nian with disdain, dismissing them as anything but experts. To them, it seemed unlikely that the two would even survive the Heaven Vein Mystic Realm.
Their earlier encounter only reinforced this belief. If not for Feng Fei’s intervention, both Long Chen and Mo Nian would have perished.
Hearing their mocking, Feng Fei didn’t get mad. She indifferently said, “As big sister Yue’e’s strategist, I still have enough confidence to back my words. Mock them if you want—but don’t complain if your face stings later.”
Feng Fei had long abandoned the pursuit of competing with the world’s peak heavenly geniuses. Instead, she had chosen to become the subordinate of one of these unparalleled figures, and the one she had chosen was Jiang Yue’e.
Despite commanding many followers, Jiang Yue’e had shown Feng Fei exceptional favor and trust. After all, Feng Fei was intelligent and farsighted.
However, Jiang Yue’e’s other followers—sealed heavenly geniuses from the primal chaos era—were less welcoming. They harbored a blend of hostility and jealousy toward Feng Fei. This tension was only exacerbated by Jiang Yue’e entrusting Feng Fei with the control of the golden chariot, one of her most powerful divine weapons. To say that they weren’t jealous would be a lie.
“You should pray you didn’t drop them in a nest of some powerful beasts. They will be devoured in no time,” retorted one of the jealous ancient experts.
“That’s enough,” Jiang Yue’e interjected frostily. “Feng Fei is my strategist. Her words reflect my own. Share your opinions if you must, but keep your remarks free of malice. I won’t tolerate it.”
Her rebuke silenced the critic, though the resentment in her followers’ eyes was evident. To them, Jiang Yue’e’s favoritism toward Feng Fei was infuriating.
“Let’s move on. We’ve already veered too far from our target,” Jiang Yue’e ordered.
Feng Fei hesitated momentarily. “I think you can afford to wait a little longer. Once you’ve awakened eight heaven veins, you’ll be ready to challenge Long Zaiye.”
Jiang Yue’e shook her head resolutely and answered, “I can’t wait. Waiting would mean that I’m afraid and lack confidence. It will harm my Dao-heart.”
Hearing this, Feng Fei nodded and immediately set the chariot on a new course.
As they departed, a silent prayer formed in Feng Fei’s mind. “Long Chen, Long Zaiye is a monster. Even Jiang Yue’e, with all her strength, couldn’t defeat him. Stay away. For your own sake, don’t come here.”
