CHAPTER 58 - The Student Council 1.
The Next Morning.
An out-of-the-chart handsome boy walked in the hallway of the student council building in the fifth peak, or the center peak of the academy. His steps were measured and slow, and his face was marred with a serious expression as if he were thinking deeply about something.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
The boy was wearing a plain white shirt with a black tie, over which he wore a V-neck half blazer, draped over by a black high collar coat with nothing but two words written on its back with a glaring golden color: Student Council.
The buttons of the black coat were left open, showing the crest of Originveil Academy printed on the half-blazer. It was the sign of a globe held by a crystal hand. It was orange in color, denoting that the guy was a third-year student.
"Good morning, Senior Alex!"
It was then that a girl—orange-haired and orange-eyed—with a dress theme almost the same but a skirt instead of pants, and her coat was more fitting than the boy's, greeted him, making him break out of his thoughts and look at her dress.
Her coat, tie, and skirt were all colored blue, unlike the boy's, and her crest was also green instead of orange.
'A second-year knight student? What's she doing here at this time—' The boy, who turned out to be Alex, frowned inwardly.
This was supposed to be the time for the knights' training session, so why was a student of the knights' course here? His thoughts, however, were brought to a pause as he noticed her wobbly legs, slightly messed up hair, and her eyes, which kept avoiding his gaze.
He vividly recalled the look of hope that flashed in her eyes when she greeted him, only to be replaced by hesitation, so he didn't need to think twice to know what she was here for.
Those were the eyes of someone who wanted help but was too ashamed to ask.
"A very good morning to you too."
So, with a smile, Alex greeted her before he continued his walk, leaving the girl, still staring at his back with a look of hesitation and plea, only to run away the next second.
It was clear that the girl wanted to say something, and although she was scared and ashamed, if Alex asked her, she would've told him; after all, he was the vice president of the student council, one whose authority was just below the presidents, and there was no way he wouldn't be able to help her.
But she just couldn't muster up enough courage, fearing what kind of look he, the prince of her dreams, would give her if he knew what she had done just now. So she ran away with tears slipping down her cheeks.
Alex, who walked ahead, didn't really care about the girl. He knew what was happening, and if he wanted to, he could stop it with a snap, but why would he? He wasn't a saint.
If she had asked him for help, then maybe he would've thought about it, but since she didn't, he just shrugged off the matter. Your journey continues on empire
Matters like these are better left for the protagonists to deal with since one of the protagonists in this school has a very righteous heart—coincidentally happened to be a knight as well.
Alex, on the other hand, focused back on the thing he was pondering about.
'Are you sure it was not someone from the plot we know of?' He questioned Sophie, his mind drifting back to the gaze he felt yesterday night. He just couldn't get them out of his head.
[Yes, I know where the characters—every single one I know of—are, unless they are hiding in some other dimension or something like that.]
Sophie's reply was instant, as she was equally worried about how things had been getting more and more pressing for Alex.
First, it was Kaira, and now this mysterious gaze. She just couldn't think of something that could help Alex, but just then, she recalled the words of the goddess who sent them here.
"If you choose to take on the role of a supporter, your path will be fraught with challenges—far greater than you can envision. You will gain knowledge of many things, yet be powerless to act upon them. The mental toll will be immense.
However, trust me when I say this: in such moments, all you must do is place your unwavering trust in the man you love."
Those were the exact words of the goddess. And whenever she recalled them, she would think about Alex. But no matter how much she trusted him, she couldn't stop her worry.
'It really is hard...' Sophie, sitting at the edge of the bed in the dream space, covered her face with her palms.
This time, even Alex wasn't able to sense her emotional turmoil. Just like how Sophie wasn't able to find the source of the gaze yesterday, now even Alex couldn't just guess what was going on with Sophie.
'Hmm..' Alex, on the other hand, just hummed at her words.
If it was not someone from the plot he or Sophie knew of, then it must be from the original plot line. Or maybe things had changed so much that the novel's storyline had completely changed.
Alex really did feel like following the plotline was a waste of effort, but now, when he was realizing how much things were changing, for a second, the thought that maybe he shouldn't have changed it so much appeared in his head but soon vanished.
'All I did was for the betterment of the ones close to me.' He muttered to himself, making whatever regret about changing the plot he had to evaporate.
There was no way he was going to regret the fact that his mother was living a life better than she was supposed to live. He wasn't going to regret anything he had done until now, as all of them had something good come out of them.
He just has to work harder, think harder, and scheme harder. With those three things, even if he didn't know the plot, he could oust anyone from anywhere.
There was no plotline recited to him in his past life, yet he reached the top, didn't he? He would just have to do it again.
[...why don't you buy the inspection ability, Alex?]
It was then that, after calming down a bit, Sophie spoke. Her plea was clear in her voice, as she already knew the answer, so instead of it being a question, it was more of a request.
'I will buy it once I have enough points. I have told you before—' Alex nodded his head and answered her question, clearly ignoring the plea in her voice, but Sophie cut him off.
[You know that I'm not talking about that, right? Just take a loan from the system... Why are you being like this..?]
She knew that going round and round wouldn't do anything; Alex would just keep avoiding it. So she directly questioned, making Alex pause in his tracks, frowning as a complicated expression marred his face.
This was a topic Alex didn't want to pick, as he knew that he was at fault here, but he knew that he couldn't keep avoiding it, so he just sighed.
