Chapter 1007: Wedding Plans
Over the next couple of days, Lucy's morning sickness persisted, sometimes leaving her drained for hours. Tom adjusted his work schedule to be with her, mostly working from home, and on days when he had to go to the office, he made sure someone was there to check on her. He learned her triggers- strong smells, certain foods- and worked tirelessly to keep her comfortable.
He also worked more closely with Amy and the wedding planner so as to reduce the stress on Lucy.
As a result of this, Amy did most of the work at LP Luxe Apparel and only brought some paperwork that needed Lucy's signature and authorization home.
On Saturday, she decided to host the ladies at home because she was feeling too fatigued to dress up and go out.
With the wedding only a few weeks away, she had planned a special surprise for the girls, and she couldn't wait to share it with them.
Dressed in a white turtle cashmere sweater and white flowing pants, Lucy watched with her spit cup in hand as Samantha and two of the domestic staff walked in with the trays of refreshments.
Tom directed the arrangement as they made the final touches on the terrace table. "Is this okay?" he asked, turning to look at her as Samantha and the girls left.
"Yes. Thanks, Ace," she said with a nod.
"Are you sure you're up for this, Jewel?" Tom asked softly.
Lucy gave him a soft smile. "I will be fine. I want this moment to be perfect. It's not every day you ask your closest friends to stand beside you on the most important day of your life."
Tom kissed her forehead. "Alright. But take it easy on yourself. Don't stress yourself out. And promise me you will call me if you need me to help with anything."
"Promise," she said, laughing lightly.
The security alert on Tom's phone buzzed, alerting him that people were coming through the gate. "They're here. I'll bring them over here," Tom said, leaning down to kiss her again before going inside the house.
Lucy smiled as she watched Tom go in, grateful for his love and support. She liked that despite how concerned he was over her wellbeing he still let her do the things she wanted, and helped her with them to make it less stressful for her.
Lucy's heart lifted when she heard the familiar chatter of the girls as they approached with Tom. Sonia, Sharon, Aurora, Andy, and Jade soon appeared, each exclaiming over the elegant setup.
"Lucy, this is beautiful!" Aurora said, her eyes lighting up as she took in the decorations.
"This house keeps giving the vibe of a fairytale castle," Andy added with a wink at Tom, who grinned.
"I'm going to leave your ladies to your thing. Please make sure Lucy is not stressed..."
"Just go. Stop rubbing your love in our faces," Jade hissed playfully.
"Like you and Harry rub yours on my face," Sharon said dryly and they all laughed.
"Have fun," Tom said, and excused himself to give them privacy while leaving one of the domestic staff to attend to Lucy's need.
"How did you all come at the same time?" Lucy asked after they had exchanged pleasantries. "Andy, Sharon and me were at Aurora's spa. Bryan is not in Ludus so he asked me to check on Sonia and accompany her. So, we went together," Jade explained.
"That makes sense," Lucy said, smiling as she watched Sonia, who was already munching on a meatball.
"I guess we will have to wait for Amy," Aurora observed.
"Yeah. We will call Candace on video call after Amy arrives," Andy said.
"So, how are you feeling? You seem to have lost weight," Jade asked as she looked Lucy over with concern.
Lucy laughed softly, "It's been a hell of a week. I've not stepped out of the house all week. I thought Sony's symptoms were terrible, but mine is worse," Lucy said, swallowing hard since she didn't want to have to spit in the cup in front of them.
They all looked at her with sympathy. "I had one hell of a pregnancy, too. Thankfully Damon took really good care of me," Sharon said, and Lucy smiled.
"He seems like a really cool guy. He's my obstetrician," Lucy said, and Sharon nodded.
"Then you're in safe hands. Damon is the best there is," Sharon said with confidence.
"Are you sure you don't have feelings for him seeing how you're singing his praise?" Aurora teased and they all laughed.
"You can have respect for a person without having romantic feelings for them," Sharon said, and they all nodded in agreement.
"Candace had it easy though. She glowed through her pregnancy," Andy said with a smile. "Aww, my Jam has always been a considerate one," Lucy said with a fond smile. "Does that mean your baby isn't considerate?" Sonia teased, and Lucy laughed.
"If it were, would I be feeling this way?" She asked, deliberately not saying she was pregnant with twins since she and Tom had agreed to keep the information that she was carrying twins to themselves. They wanted it to be a surprise.
"I'm sorry I'm late," Amy said as she joined them.
"You're welcome, Amy. And thanks for covering up so well for me," Lucy said and Amy waved
it off.
"You pay me well enough for the trouble," she said with a grin as she took her seat.
"This is a lovely set up," Amy observed as Andy dialed Candace's line.
"It is, right? To what do we owe this invitation?" Jade asked curiously since she knew it wasn't about the GEL club.
"You'll find out soon," Lucy said as she exchanged a subtle look with the domestic staff who was waiting on her.
The lady walked away and returned a moment later with three other domestic staff carrying customized gift boxes.
The boxes were tied with silk ribbons and decorated with intricate calligraphy of the recipient's name, and they placed them in front of each person, placing Candace's own in
front of Andy as well as hers.
"Gifts?" Jade asked with a grin.
"How can you do this when I'm not there? It's not fair!" Candace cried with a pout and the
other laughed.
"Lu, how come I didn't know you were planning this? Amy were you aware?" Sonia asked, surprised that Lucy had pulled that off without carrying her along when they had planned to
surprise Jade together.
"Not at all," Amy said while Lucy smiled.
"You deserve to be surprised too," Lucy said with a grin.
Once the staff left, Lucy stood. "Thank you all for being here today. As you know, the wedding planning has been in full swing, and I couldn't have done any of it without your love and support. So, I have something special for each of you."
The girls exchanged curious looks as Lucy gestured toward the boxes. "You can open them," she urged them with a smile.
They each untied the ribbons on their boxes and lifted the lids to reveal an array of thoughtful gifts: elegant feather trimmed silk robes embroidered with their names, scented candles, custom jewelry pieces, and personalized cards with heartfelt messages. Beneath the gifts were envelopes containing their roles in the wedding party.
"Oh my God!" Jade shrieked as she read her card. "Maid of honor? Me? Are you serious?"
Lucy laughed, nodding. "Yes, Jade. You're my maid of honor."
Jade leapt up, nearly knocking over her chair, and hugged Lucy tightly. "Why didn't you tell me sooner? And why not Sonia?" she asked, looking between them.
Sonia waved a hand dismissively. "Do I look like I'm in any shape to be a maid of honor right now? I'd be waddling down the aisle," she joked, making everyone laugh.
Andy smiled at Sonia, "What's written on your card if you won't be a bridesmaid like the rest
of us?"
Sonia grinned as she turned her card to face them. "Preggy Bestie," she read with a giggle and
they all laughed.
"I'm guessing Harry is the best man. Isn't this going to be like the second wedding where you walk down the aisle with Harry?" Aurora pointed out with a grin.
Candace chimed in, grinning. "I think it's cute that you'll be walking down the aisle with Harry again before your own wedding. A little practice round."
Jade blushed but laughed along. "I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're right." "Philip with be there too as Tom's groomsman, so you both will be walking down the aisle
again," Lucy said, and Aurora giggled.
"Are you sure that's a good idea? We might forget it isn't our wedding and hijack the ceremony," Aurora said, and they all laughed.
"You couldn't hijack it even if you tried. Tom will throw you both out," Lucy joked, making
them laugh even more.
"I guess all your partners will be there. I hate being the only single lady among you," Sharon groaned and they all laughed.
They all thanked Lucy for the gifts and as they discussed the wedding plans, "I hope you three haven't forgotten?. Mari and Emily are my flower girls, and my Jam is the ring bearer," Lucy said, referring to Andy, Sharon and Candace.
"Jamal has been over the moon since I told him that. Thankfully it has distracted him from everything else," she said, referring to his inability to reach Dawn.
Amy always practical, looked at Lucy with concern. "Are you sure you'll feel better by then? The wedding is only a few weeks away."Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Lucy smiled warmly. "I hope I'll feel better. This pregnancy has been challenging so far, but I'm going to go through with the date even if I have to be carried through the whole of it,"
Lucy said and they all laughed even though they could sense the determination behind Lucy's
words.
Tom peeked in to see Lucy surrounded by laughter and warmth, her face glowing despite how exhausted she seemed.
"She'll be just fine," he thought to himself, feeling a swell of pride and love for the woman who never ceased to amaze him.
What do you think?
