Chapter 59 Puppy Love
Meanwhile, back in the kitchen, Lucian looked at his destroyed kitchen and shook his head. Many of the cabinets were destroyed, and what used to be inside them lay haphazardly on the floor.
[System, this is your fault. You're going to fix this, right?] Lucian asked, despite already knowing the cheapskate System's answer.

'Huh?' Lucian frowned as he gazed at the sudden System Notification. That was not the response he was looking for.
The System was also confused, wondering what had just happened.
After a moment of silence, the System could not help but ask, [Host, did you do something to cause an error in the System?]
Lucian frowned.
[Of course not…]
Lucian continued unconfidently, [At least I don't think I did.]
They both fell silent and waited for something to happen. But even after thirty seconds, nothing else occurred.

The System continued in an apologetic tone, [Since it is technically the System's fault, I will give you a free Chef's Uniform.]
Lucian was surprised. With how miserly the System was, he never expected he would get anything for free.
If he remembered correctly, the Chef's Uniform he was currently wearing was priced at Five Low-Grade Mana Stones in the System Shop.

As the System used the coupon, Lucian suddenly received System Notifications.

"What?" Lucian was startled by the sudden System Notifications. He could not believe it and attempted to speak with the System via Voice Transmission, but to his astonishment, he could not locate it. It was as though the System did not exist any longer.
With no other option available to him, Lucian spoke out loud.
"Hey, System, can you hear me?"
"Don't just run away with my Free Restaurant Upgrade Coupon like a thief."
"Oi, I know you're miserly, but this is on a whole different level."
"If you didn't want to upgrade my restaurant, you could have said so…"
Lucian was speechless and decided to ask the System what happened once it was up and running. From the System Notifications, he knew that the System being down was only temporary.
And even if the System never came back, as long as Lucian could keep his Mana Veins, he would be happy. The System was an unknown variable that he would rather not deal with if possible.
'Well, I've made Lily wait long enough.'
Then, Lucian looked down at his bare chest and frowned.
'I can't go out like this.'
Without the System and its Shop feature, Lucian had no choice but to wear Wang Chen's white and gold robe.
After deactivating his Dragon's Gaze Skill and storing the two globs of Detoxification Potion in a bottle, Lucian walked out of the kitchen holding the plate of Sous Vide Filet Mignon and an empty plate.
As the kitchen door opened, a burst of rich fragrance enveloped the dining area, immediately dominating Lily and Fenwick's senses.
*Ting-*
Suddenly, a very harsh and grating musical note sounded, causing Lily and Fenwick to wake up from their daze, including Lucian, who had also been captivated by the smell of the Sous Vide Filet Mignon.
Lucian and Fenwick turned and looked at Lily, who was entirely red-faced from embarrassment.
"I-I." Lily stuttered with her head down, while sneakily peaking glances at Lucian, who was now wearing a white and gold robe, which made him look elegant and noble. For some reason, her little heart was beating faster than ever before.
'Wa, wa, wa, Lily, what are you thinking!?' She berated herself with a shake of her head to remove the weird and uncomfortable, yet pleasant feeling.
After a moment, she managed to calm down as waves of delicious beefy aroma kept flowing into her nostrils.
'It smells so good. Lily can't wait to eat!' She thought to herself while licking her lips.
Only then was she able to shyly mutter, "I'm glad Big Brother Lucian is safe."
After hearing Lily's meek-sounding, genuinely caring words, coupled with her tear-stained face, Lucian felt a wave of warmth envelop him.
The omniverse was not all rainbows and sunshine, the more powerful a Mage was, the less they would care about romance.
Well, not all Mages were like that, but the majority definitely did not care about their partner.
For someone of his caliber, he had experienced his fair share of women expressing their love and care for him; however, they always had other intentions. They merely wanted Chef Lucian's, Dao Immortal Lucian's, and Ancestral God Lucian's money, fame, resources, protection, and of course, his peerless appearance.
Simply put, they only wanted material wealth from him. They did not truly care for him.
There were a few women who genuinely did care for him; for example, Luna, Isabella, and Sylvia. However, Dao Immortal Lucian did not care for romance just like Ancestral God Lucian. Only Chef Lucian wanted to use his baguette, but alas, he never found the right woman.
Fenwick frowned as he glanced back and forth between Lily's shy, blushing face and Lucian, who was glancing at her with warm eyes. He could not help but feel an ominous feeling. It was as though Lucian was about to steal his treasure.
Fenwick adamantly shook his head.
'It can't be!'
'Lily is still too young! It's probably just puppy love. She'll forget about him soon.'
Even though he repeatedly told himself that, just from first-hand experience, he knew sometimes puppy love could never disappear.
But that did not mean he would allow someone to harm Lily.
