Chapter 238 Imagining Their Future
Lin Yu stood under the streetlamp, looking down at his phone as he replied to a message.
When he heard the footsteps behind him, the corners of his mouth slightly curled upward. It was truly amazing how he could distinguish whether it was Liu Ou just by the sound of the footsteps.
This was indeed magical.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Lin Yu looked up and sure enough, he saw Liu Ou approaching with her backpack.
He stretched out his arms and embraced the person who flung herself into his hold.
With his other hand, he put away his phone and then ruffled her hair, "Off work? Tired?"
"Not too bad, have you been waiting long?" Liu Ou asked, looking up at him.
Then she was met with a kiss on the lips, something the prepared young man had in store.
The corners of her mouth rose.
Lin Yu said, "Not too long, shall we go grab something to eat before heading home? I'm a bit hungry, are you?"
"I'm fine, I can eat a little with you."
"I just checked online, there's a barbecue place nearby that's supposed to be really good, lots of positive reviews. Shall we have barbecue?"
"Anything's fine, it's you I'm accompanying anyway. Whatever works."
In the end, the two of them had barbecue before returning home.
They both had the next day off, considering that Liu Ou had just moved in and they had already planned to go to IKEA together on Saturday.
It's funny, Liu Ou feels in such a good mood pushing the cart through IKEA with Lin Yu.
Even though it's just a home store, IKEA gives her a very comfortable feeling.
Along the way, she bought a throw pillow just like Luo Yanran's and mentioned she'd video call her that evening.
Lin Yu just followed her, dutifully pushing the cart,
only occasionally voicing his opinion when she considered buying things like a pink towel apron for herself.
Every time this happened, Liu Ou would teasingly look at him, "Dr. Lin, don't you like it?"
Lin Yu was both annoyed and amused, "You think it looks good? Then buy one for yourself."
Liu Ou firmly shook her head, selected a light blue one for herself, and then picked out a dark blue one for Lin Yu.
They looked like a perfect match.
Lin Yu pulled her over in one swift motion, and Liu Ou unintentionally collided into his chest.
She then heard Lin Yu whisper softly, "You like it that much, huh? Then when we have a little girl in the future, we can buy lots of pink things."
Liu Ou felt her face heat up, but was she the type to be easily flattered?
She immediately looked at Lin Yu with a face full of shock and indignation, "You prefer girls over boys?"
Lin Yu's eyes shone subtly, the point she cared about was not the gender, but the fact that she was concerned about him discussing having a child together in the future.
Rounded up, it meant she was willing to have a child with him.
This thought alone lifted Lin Yu's spirits high in an instant.
He said earnestly, "If that's what you're asking, I do actually prefer girls. They're cute, and it'd be best if she were like you."
"And what if it's a boy?"
"If it's a boy, I'll teach him how to protect his mother. I'll love him too, just that I'd really like to have a daughter like you, she'd be beautiful..."
"Dr. Lin, stop explaining..."
An ordinary Saturday, a couple enamored with thoughts of the future, and even the air seemed to be flavored with love.
Liu Ou didn't tell Lin Yu about the trouble Jian Yaoyao had caused her, nor did she mention that Jian Yaoyao knew Fang Miao.
It wasn't a deliberate concealment, she simply believed she could handle it herself.
Otherwise, if I told Lin Yu, he'd probably get angry and then go looking for Fang Miao.
But Liu Ou had to let Fang Miao know that Lin Yu would never take the initiative to look for her, so she shouldn't think too highly of herself.
Liu Ou originally thought that because of Teacher Tian Ye's attitude, Friday's matter wouldn't come to fruition, but unexpectedly, there was a twist.
When she went to work on Monday and just stepped inside, she immediately noticed the atmosphere in the studio was very tense.
Everyone was quiet, and even the sound of footsteps was hushed.
Although Liu Ou didn't know why, she followed suit and lightened her steps.
Since she had a good temper, the people in the studio quite liked her.
One of the costume designers pulled her aside discreetly and pointed at the office across from them, which was the photographers' private office, and said in a low voice, "Teacher An Ji and Teacher Tian Ye seem to be arguing inside."
Liu Ou was somewhat surprised. Compared to the relatively hot-tempered Teacher Tian Ye, Teacher An Ji was famously even-tempered.
Liu Ou had been there a week and hadn't even seen him raise his voice at anyone, let alone argue.
So she was truly surprised.
The costume designer wanted to say more, but the door to An Ji's office opened. He glanced around and then pointed at Liu Ou, "Hai Ou, come in."
Liu Ou promptly responded and, under the sympathetic gazes of her colleagues, put down her things and walked over.
Inside, she saw that Teacher Tian Ye and Jian Yaoyao were also there.
However, Jian Yaoyao's complexion didn't look too good, and upon seeing Liu Ou enter, she glared at her.
Liu Ou felt a bit wronged, as she still had no idea what was happening—why was she being glared at?
This glare was not only felt by Liu Ou; even An Ji noticed it.
He was always patient, but he could not tolerate any mistakes in his work.
At that moment, he glanced at Tian Ye, "I don't care if you mix business with personal affairs, but Liu Ou is going to be my assistant from now on. You can't just fire her on a whim, can you?"
Tian Ye glanced at Liu Ou and then at An Ji, showing an expression of discontent, "There are plenty of interns everywhere. Why do you have to oppose me?"
"There are also plenty of photography assistants. Why don't you replace Jian Yaoyao? Hasn't she made enough mistakes? Have I ever interfered with that? What does it matter to you which assistant I use?" retorted An Ji.
In the end, Tian Ye left in a huff, taking Jian Yaoyao with him.
Liu Ou stood there completely baffled, still not fully understanding what had just happened.
Only after they had left did An Ji say to Liu Ou, "You've been promoted ahead of time."
The surprise came too suddenly, and even though Liu Ou was clever, she was still a young girl and couldn't quite grasp what was happening right away.
An Ji sighed, "Didn't you know Jian Yaoyao and Tian Ye are a couple?"
Liu Ou shook her head blankly. Indeed, she didn't know. She had only been there a week, and Tian Ye had been out of the country for the first three days attending some photography exhibition.
Jian Yaoyao, on the other hand, had been working all along.
After Tian Ye returned, he showed up at the company once and then went to rest.
No one had mentioned it to Liu Ou. How would she know the two were a couple?
If she had known, she wouldn't have made that phone call to Tian Ye.
Liu Ou could now guess what probably happened—it was likely that Jian Yaoyao wanted her boyfriend to fire her.
The studio was originally founded by three formidable photographers, so it would be easy for Tian Ye to fire an intern.
But it seems like Teacher An Ji didn't want that and had protected her.
After thinking it through, Liu Ou said to An Ji, "Thank you, Teacher, but won't this make things difficult for you?"
An Ji looked at the young yet astute girl before him and smiled, "It's your intelligence I like. No worries, from now on, you'll be my photography assistant, so it won't be a problem."
He sighed, "The conflict between me and Tian Ye is quite serious, even without involving you." Stay tuned with empire
