Chapter 731: Chapter 725: World Shattering Proposal (Part 2)
“Well then, we’ll wait here. Consider us witnesses to your marriage proposal, Mr. Lewis. How does that sound?” The current chairman of Lenovo, Martin Green, quickly interjected. The rest of the attendees were initially taken aback, but quickly caught on. Even though they were CEOs, and some founders of various successful companies, they each had a team managing their company — leaving for several months wouldn’t pose any issues as the business would continue as usual.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Regardless of where they were, the situation was the same for them, especially given the advancement of communication technology these days. They could be contacted anytime and anywhere, so they had no issue staying over at this place.
“Well, if you all are okay with playing the witness role, that’s fine by me. But bear this in mind: do not let the news slip, okay? If it does leak out, don’t blame me for any consequences. I’ve been planning this for a long time,” Finn Lewis said, chuckling, yet quickly replacing the smile with a wary face.
“Don’t worry, we certainly won’t reveal anything to Miss Kay Lee.” Those in the room readily agreed. Seeing their assurance, Lewis felt okay about it. After all, he had no real means of preventing anyone from remaining here anyway.
“Oh, by the way, Mr. Lewis, there’s another matter. Our company, Lenovo, is considering relocating its headquarter to this Dreamland city. Is that okay with you?” Martin Green inquired after ensuring his request’s approval.
“That’s not a problem. This city couldn’t possibly be solely occupied by our corporation. This place has almost become a city in itself, and a city naturally needs its residents holding back major businesses like yours is unjustifiable. The future diameter for the expansion of Dreamland city is 15 kilometers, with designated zones. Construction works have already started. However, there’s one drawback: the local architectural design won’t be sold to you. You can’t design your own buildings. To put it bluntly, you can contribute funds and we provide the architectural blueprint and the fully constructed building. You can buy the ready-made building, but you can’t get the land and build your own because the city has to maintain its overall integrity,” Lewis stated forthrightly.
Speaking of which, it seems the long-term mission of turning his hometown into a world financial center was almost complete. Just to clarify, when Lewis mentioned the city’s diameter would be increased by 15 kilometers, this didn’t mean the area of the city would surpass that of the national capital, Celeston City, but it would be quite similar to half of the provincial capital’s size. An addition of 15 kilometers to the diameter would ensure the city surface area surpassed other Flame Nation cities, making it the largest city.
“That’s fine. So, can we now see what the ready-made buildings will look like?” Martin Green asked cautiously.
“Yes, we have holographic 3D simulation videos here. Every detail is included. Let me put it this way, once the buildings are completed, I can guarantee that as long as you are willing to pay, your corporate headquarters could become a tourist attraction,” Lewis affirmed confidently.
The guarantees of these individuals were quite reliable. Although Lewis did not disclose much about his proposal plan, they did not leak any information to Kay Lee. However, they did reveal the plan to some of their closest friends. As a result, during the next few days, a stream of chairmen of big domestic companies kept arriving. Mr. M and plenty of others came, followed by several chairmen from foreign companies too.
In the end, Lewis was rendered speechless. Although these people arrived, they did not disturb him. Neither did they inform Lewis of their arrival, but stayed at the hotel waiting for Lewis’s marriage proposal. Regardless of their intentions, there were lots of them who saw this as an opportunity to network. Nevertheless, Lewis paid no heed to them and continued with his proposal plan.
As expected, the location for Lewis’s proposal was indeed the square in front of the Virtual World Corporation’s headquarters. And, Kay Lee was supposed to work there today. The proposal was scheduled for after Kay Lee finished her work. According to her schedule, she would finish her work around 9 pm, which is when everything was set to begin. As for the others who came to play the role of witnesses, they all arrived and cooperated with the plan, waiting around without making their presence known until the very last moment.
It was destined to be an auspicious day. The sky was clear with no clouds in sight. Even though the city lights drowned out the starlight, the bright moon hung high above. There was no hint of pollution in the air or the surrounding environment here.
At ten past nine, Kay Lee had finished all her work. Recently, Lewis was busy with something, so after sorting out all the office work, she decided to head home. At this time, she would usually not have any bodyguards around her. Not to say there was none, but within the city it was deemed unnecessary. Any person who would pose harm to Kay Lee would be politely escorted out the moment they entered the city, depending on what they intended to do of course.
In the absence of Lewis, Kay Lee was in a hurry to get home for dinner. Lewis’s mother had called her to inform that dinner was kept for her. The thought of it brightened up her face. Sometimes, happiness was not just about the person you love reciprocating your feelings, but also about his family loving you as well. Over time, Kay Lee realized, Lewis’s parents had actually embraced her as their own daughter.
This was a form of happiness too. Given Lewis’s current social standing, his parents were in a position to pick any woman in the entire world. Therefore, Kay Lee felt extremely blessed. As she hastily made her way out of the company building, instead of heading to the parking lot to get her car, she noticed that Olivia Thatcher, who was supposed to park the car out front, hadn’t brought the car over yet. Confused, Kay Lee called out, “Olivia?”
Just as her question echoed, the square in front of the entire building complex suddenly plunged into darkness. Before Kay Lee could react, she noticed tiny specks of light illuminating from the ground far ahead. Instantaneously, a multitude of sparkles appeared on the ground a few dozen meters ahead of Kay Lee. As the lights flickered, an image formed on the square. Only then did many people realize that the surface of the square in front of the Virtual World Corporation could also function as a display screen.
