Chapter 81 - 81
Two days after the astonishing events in the Lion Arena, rumors about the incredible feats of Klaus, Alex, and Nicholas spread like wildfire across the continent’s taverns, marketplaces, and noble halls. Each retelling grew more elaborate, turning the trio into legends overnight. Tales of their heroics and unparalleled skills became the main topic of conversation. Bards began composing songs, and storytellers wove intricate narratives that captivated their audiences. Klaus, in particular, stood out. His audacious behavior toward the Rikxia Empire’s emperor earned him the nickname "Little Emperor," and his fearless demeanor made him a subject of admiration and intrigue. Even the most powerful institutions couldn’t ignore his growing fame.
Klaus’s deeds were so extraordinary that many found them hard to believe, fueling even more gossip and speculation. Some said he had the strength of ten men, while others claimed he could wield magic that rivaled the gods. His actions in the Lion Arena were recounted with increasing embellishment, making Klaus a larger-than-life figure. As his legend grew, so did his following. Representatives from various countries began sending envoys to the Rikxia Empire, hoping to meet the young hero and verify the astonishing rumors for themselves. Unbeknownst to him, Klaus had become famous overnight.

Klaus awoke with the first ray of sunlight on his face. He still felt sore despite using magic to heal his muscles; yesterday’s events had taken quite a toll on his body. The adrenaline had worn off, leaving behind a deep exhaustion. After washing his face, Klaus went downstairs, where he was met by many maids who were preparing the table for breakfast.
"Good morning, young master!" all the maids said in unison when they noticed Klaus, gentle smiles on their faces. Your next read is at empire
"Good morning," Klaus replied with an awkward smile, still getting used to the attention.
All eighty trainees who passed yesterday’s test were given two weeks of rest, so almost all of them, Klaus included, decided to return to their family homes. The only exception was Nicholas, who decided to stay in the Lionhart Youth training dormitories.
Klaus sat at the dining table and was served a sublime breakfast. As soon as he started eating, Elisabeth and Ludovic joined him. As soon as Klaus noticed Elisabeth, he sensed something different about her. He had noticed it yesterday, but because of the events, he had been too tired to confirm his suspicions.
"Mom," Klaus called with a gentle voice.
"Yes, my dear," Elisabeth replied softly.
"Are you perhaps..." Klaus trailed off, not knowing how to say it.
"Hmm, pregnant?" As soon as Klaus finished asking his question, Elisabeth became so red that one could mistake her for a tomato. Even Ludovic, who was always good at keeping a poker face, couldn’t help but blush at the question.
"Ah, I see," Klaus continued. A reply wasn’t needed due to their reaction, so he gave them a gentle smile and continued eating. An awkward silence fell over the table. The maids standing behind the family of three couldn’t help but giggle at the awkward silence caused by Klaus’s question. Unlike them, Klaus wasn’t bothered and kept filling his stomach, asking for another plate after another until he reached his twelfth plate.
"You have a crazy appetite," Ludovic remarked.
"Well, after yesterday, I need some energy."
"You sure do."
After another five minutes of awkward silence and small chats, Klaus excused himself and went to the garden. Observing the garden with melancholy eyes, Klaus went straight to the small lake nearby. Staying long in the garden felt strange for him since he had died in a similar garden in his past life.
When he reached the lake, Klaus sat in the lotus position and started inspecting his body. He instantly noticed that the arcane energy inside his mana circuit was flowing better than before. The flow resembled a tranquil lake, just like the one in front of him. But that wasn’t the reason Klaus decided to inspect his body. He could feel that a change was about to happen in the realm where he opened his eyes to the "Ten Eyes Mantra."
’The "Fourth Eye" will soon be open, and with that, I will be able to unlock the ability of the "First Eye" and also form another circle and finally reach the status of Four Circle mage. In other words, I will finally become an archmage, the youngest on the continent at that,’ Klaus thought, letting a small smile creep onto his mouth.
{Why are you smiling? You look creepy.} Greed’s voice echoed in Klaus’s mind.
’Ooh, look who’s finally talking,’ Klaus replied.
Greed had stopped responding to Klaus ever since his fight with Alex. No matter how Klaus taunted him, he hadn’t responded, but now he was finally talking.
{Ahaaha, I had my reasons,} Greed replied, his tone both remorseful and ashamed.
’I can guess it’s probably due to whatever that Alex kid summoned.’
{You noticed?} Greed asked, surprised.
’Kind of; I could see the distortion around him after he sealed my core with whatever artifact he used, and since even Roman Lionhart didn’t notice anything, I can only assume that it is related to that "Apostle" thing.’
{For someone this weak, you are quite sharp,} Greed said, his tone eccentric.
’Well, what do you expect from a mage?’ Klaus replied sarcastically. ’Care to explain what happened?’
{Hmm, hmmm, hmm,} Greed started to think about honestly telling Klaus the truth about what happened, but he knew he couldn’t reveal the truth because of the "Law of Causality."
{Even if I wanted to, you wouldn’t be able to understand,} Greed said, his tone more serious.
’Why don’t you try and let me decide!?’
{Suit yourself,} Greed said before starting his explanation. But as soon as he started talking, all Klaus could hear was a very disturbing noise in his ears. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
{What happened was due to %&*# #%#$% %#^ # %#^&&%##$%@@#$%%.}
As Greed kept talking, the noise intensified until Klaus almost lost consciousness and started to bleed from his nose to his ears.
"Enough!" Klaus said loudly.
{I warned you!} Greed said, pleased. He felt a bit happy seeing Klaus suffer a little.
"This thing is very annoying," Klaus said, exasperated. ’Just tell me one thing: will what happened yesterday happen again?’ This was what he was most curious about. If the same situation was planned to happen again in the future, he needed to prepare himself.
{Very much so, in the sense that Alex will not be as weak as he was before your fight. He will probably be at least twice as strong as you when he fully assimilates &$$%#*.}
The realization that Alex was going to become even stronger unsettled Klaus. He took a deep breath, the serene surroundings of the garden contrasting sharply with the turmoil inside him. He needed to get stronger, faster. His thoughts were interrupted by a soft call from behind.
"Klaus?" It was Elisabeth, her voice filled with concern.
Klaus turned to face her, masking his inner turmoil with a reassuring smile. "Yes, Mom?"
"You’ve been out here for a while. Are you alright?"
Klaus nodded, standing up and dusting off his clothes. "I’m fine. Just thinking."
Elisabeth approached him, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. "I know things have been overwhelming lately. If you ever need to talk, we’re here for you."
"Thank you, Mom," Klaus replied, his smile more genuine this time. "I appreciate it."
They walked back to the house together, the morning sun casting long shadows on the garden path. Inside, the house was bustling with activity, a stark contrast to the quiet outside. Klaus couldn’t help but feel a sense of warmth and belonging amidst the chaos.
After spending some time with his family, Klaus decided to visit the training grounds. He needed to clear his mind and focus on his training. As he walked through the familiar corridors, memories of his past life and the recent events swirled in his mind. He couldn’t shake off the feeling that something big was about to happen.
At the training grounds, Klaus was greeted by one of his instructors, Rick Lionhart. The grizzled veteran had a keen eye and a sharp tongue, but he had always been supportive of Klaus.
"Back so soon, Trainee 401?" Rick said, raising an eyebrow.
"I can’t afford to waste time," Klaus replied. "I need to get stronger."
Rick nodded, a glint of approval in his eyes. Although he thought, ’You are already plenty strong as you are now,’ he said, "Good. Let’s see what you’ve got."
What do you think?
