Chapter 483: Qi channeling
Chapter 483: Qi channeling
Roma didn't hesitate and quickly agreed to join the store as an employee, making Kevin smile in amusement. She was eager to start by tomorrow since she urgently needed the money.
Kevin was fine with it and even offered to pay her half the salary in advance if she worked just a week. With that, Roma left, leaving Kevin alone for a moment. It had only been a few days since he last checked his status, but a lot had happened he had been with Keith, Keyara, and Viana, which provided him with a significant amount of yin qi to cultivate.

The level of his lust aura had increased, boosting his charm attribute by four points. He noticed the change himself, seeing a subtle sparkle around him when he looked in the mirror. Even some female customers would just stare at his face, and he suspected a few came to the store solely to admire him.
Other than that, the improvements were moderate. His cultivation technique saw a slight increase, as did his proficiency with the Yin Raising Hand technique, though only by a little. However, his progress with the Soldier Blade technique had plateaued once again. He was determined to push it further over the next six months, aiming to raise it as high as possible. Alongside that, he planned to learn some new techniques, particularly those involving long blades, as he felt the most comfortable using them.
As for his attributes, he wasn't entirely sure, but he knew they were above average. Keith and Keyara had been stronger at his level, though they had cultivation techniques specifically designed to boost strength. His, on the other hand, as far as he could tell, seemed to focus on enhancing his prowess in sex and seducing women.
However, he would soon discover its true purpose once he unlocked the 361st meridian, which held a special significance for both him and his cultivation technique.
He had heard that unlocking this meridian came with a unique move for the cultivator, but he had never seen Keyara or anyone else who had opened it use anything new. Even during the dangerous situation on Nimbus Desire, where their lives were on the line, Keyara hadn't used it. He often thought about asking her why she hadn't.
However, the question would always slip his mind as their conversations would quickly shift to more immediate matters, and they'd often end up getting intimate, never discussing past incidents.
As Kevin reflected on the Soldier Blade technique, he acknowledged it was solid, covering various scenarios-defense, dodging, and even assassin-like strikes. But for him, it felt a bit bland.
He craved something faster, with more emphasis on footwork. Even Keith had modified her technique to focus on explosive strength, while Kevin preferred dodging rather than defending and landing a flurry of strikes rather than just a few powerful blows, or a single decisive one.
He knew he needed to search for a technique that matched his style, though finding exactly what he wanted would take some luck. Alternatively, he could develop his own. But creating a new technique wasn't just about inventing new moves-it required devising a method to channel qi properly, making it an actual combat technique.
Physical strength alone wouldn't suffice in a fight. That's why qi condensation cultivators were so much stronger than those at the meridian linking stage. They could channel qi through their bodies, enabling them to move with blinding speed-if they had the time to channel it properly.
As Kevin daydreamed about mastering the perfect fighting technique and becoming the strongest when he reached the Qi Condensation stage, a wide grin spread across his face. But his thoughts were abruptly interrupted by the chime of his watch. Glancing at it, he saw a message from his mother and cursed under his breath, "Shit, I forgot."
He had promised that morning to visit her and his aunt, and now it was well past noon. Knowing them, they'd definitely use his late arrival as an excuse to keep him longer.
In a rush, Kevin hurried out, quickly giving Sia instructions on which items to stock and other tasks, including a casual suggestion for her to meet him later this evening. It had been a while since they'd enjoyed each other's company intimately, after all.
He also remembered Venice, whom he hadn't seen in a week or two. After dealing with his mom and aunt, Kevin planned to make up for lost time with both of them later this night. Kevin was gearing up for a busy day, feeling a surge of excitement at the thought. On his way home, he made a quick stop at a softly lit, pink-tinted shop for some personal errands. However, when he arrived at his house, he was met with a surprise. His sister's car was parked outside, and there she was-along with her girlfriend Natalie and Lora, all deep in conversation.
Kevin's mood instantly soured. He had never been fond of Natalie, seeing her as too much of a gold digger. His sister knew it too, but for some reason, she still hadn't broken up with her.
Kevin took a deep breath, deciding to face the situation head-on as he walked over to the group, a casual smile on his face. He waved at his sister. "Hey, what's up? Didn't expect to see you all here today."
His sister, always the cheerful one, smiled brightly in return. "We got our noon classes off, so we thought, why not have lunch at home today?"
Kevin's smile faltered slightly. He couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed with his mom. She had rushed him, telling him to come home quickly, but hadn't mentioned they'd be sitting down for lunch. He could've taken his time if he'd known. 'Would've been nice to get a heads-up,' he muttered to himself.
Lora gave him a friendly nod, but Natalie's reaction was less pleasant. She turned towards him, her lips twisting into a thin, almost forced smile. Her eyes, however, told a different story-slightly narrowed, as if she was sizing him up, like always. Kevin could see the hint of disdain in her gaze, mixed with a certain calculating coldness. He wasn't the type to mince words, but he decided to keep it civil for now.
"Hey, Kevin," Natalie said, her voice dripping with a sugary sweetness that Kevin found all too fake. "You seem busy these days?"
