The Prodigies War

Chapter 1995: The Gate of Ruination

The other side of the cosmos was as hazy as a myth, to the point that even Emperor characters doubted it existed.

However, Ling Kezi seemed to have figured out long ago that it certainly did, and that Lin Xun would go there one day.

This was nothing but strange!

Still, Lin Xun decided not to pursue this matter any further. Doing so would be futile anyway since Ling Kezi had stated that he would tell him the answer when the right time came.

“Thank you, thank you so much…” Ling Kezi was visibly relieved. His eyes gleamed with joy, as though just a promise from Lin Xun already made him very happy.

The mountain path was rugged and winding like a snake as they traveled with Ji Xuan's guidance. The destructive aura that permeated the air only became more and more intimidating with time.

Occasionally, there were flashes of earth-shattering phenomena that could take one’s soul away.

“Brother Lin, you’ve been here before?” Ling Kezi couldn't help but ask when he noticed that they hadn’t encountered any dangers along the way, which was a completely different experience from when he had entered and traveled Mount Heedless alone.

“No.” Lin Xun shook his head, but he didn't explain.

“According to my humble knowledge, all the great perils lurking in the other parts of the Ancient Immortal Forbidden Zone are far less scary than those of Mount Heedless. Although we have a hundred and eight experts this time, I’m afraid the number of survivors at the end…will be few and far between,” lamented Ling Kezi with pity and compassion.

“That’s the price that comes with a chaos treasure,” said Lin Xun casually.

Apart from Jintian Xuanyue, Leng Xiujia, and Xie Yuhua, he couldn’t care less if anyone else lived or died.

Now that Lu Dubu and Su Muhan had fallen, he didn't want anything unexpected to happen to the rest.

“Huh?”

Mid conversation, Lin Xun and Ling Kezi were suddenly alarmed. In unison, they looked toward a certain distant area.

Extremely far away, the destructive aura was so thick that it took the form of vaporizing mist. Behind the mist, a huge, natural stone archway was faintly visible. It was a thousand feet high, lofty and ancient.

From afar, it looked like a gate to heaven!

Countless colorful rainbows of Law Power flickered as they danced inside the huge arch.

“The Gate of Ruination!” exclaimed Ling Kezi with a shocked expression. “Rumor has it that the chaos treasure born within Mount Heedless is most likely in there!”

Lin Xun couldn't help but glance at him in surprise. This monk knew quite a lot of secrets.

At the same time, Ji Xuan's voice resounded in Lin Xun's mind, “The little monk is correct, but…it’s not quite easy to enter that gate.

“When Jun Huan and I first arrived here, it was fully covered by terrifying dao law power. No matter what we tried, we couldn't get one step in. But if you use brute force, you’d likely die.”

Speaking of this, Ji Xuan sounded perplexed, “At that time, I didn’t listen to Jun Huan's advice and risked my life forcing a way in. As a result…”

A curious Lin Xun had to ask, “What was the result?”

Ji Xuan let out another long sigh. “You saw it for yourself. It was precisely due to that attempt that I suffered the bombardment of great dao power. My spirit was nearly disintegrated, and although I was lucky enough to survive, I got trapped in this place for countless years in a mangled, muddled state …”

Lin Xun gasped. So Ji Xuan's injuries had actually come from his attempt to break into the Gate of Ruination!

No wonder Li Xuanwei had said that Jun Huan had gone there at the wrong time back then, thus having returned empty-handed.

Ji Xuan continued, “But nowadays, the Ancient Immortal Forbidden Zone has undergone a strange development. The great dao law power that once shrouded this gate has dissipated, so without any accidents, you guys probably will be able to seize that chaos treasure.”

Only after hearing this was Lin Xun put at ease.

“Brother Lin, look,” said Ling Kezi all of a sudden.

Following his gaze, Lin Xun saw that in front of the Gate of Ruination, where there was an array of bizarre-looking rocks, several figures had already arrived and were standing in different areas.

With just a glance, he spotted Mi Wuya’s group of Panwu Dao Court, Ling Hongzhuang’s group of Mythical Huang Dao Court, as well as some other supreme geniuses from the other worlds in the nebula such as Jing Tiannan and Wen Yu.

There was also Hua Xingli of All-Demon Dao Court, Tang Su from Wild Blade Battle Clan, and so on.

All together, there were more than thirty people!

Judging by the situation, they had apparently arrived here for quite a while.

Lin Xun wasn't surprised by this. All experts who were sent to the Ancient Immortal Forbidden Zone this time came prepared and well-informed. Even Ling Kezi knew about the existence of the Gate of Ruination, so how could the others not know about it?

“Let's go over.” Lin Xun calmly walked forward.

Ling Kezi closely followed.

Their presences gathered the others’ attention right away. The sight of Lin Xun especially earned odd expressions from many.

“Lin Xun, you really are an expert at deceiving people. Those guys right there have already seen through your true identity, so be careful,” warned Tang Su.

As usual, she was wearing a wide-sleeved, black robe and a hat that covered half of her face. In her slender, jade-like hand was a shiny, long, and narrow blade.

She looked valiant, exuding a fierce and agile aura.

Lin Xun was stunned as he had not expected Tang Su to take the initiative to talk to him.

Back then, in the Kunlun Dominion, she had left a deep impression on him as the Blade Maniac who displayed great fondness for battle. Her aptitude was outstanding, and even though she was a woman, she was more bold and carefree than men, fearing nothing under the sun.

“I didn't do it with ill intentions,” replied Lin Xun with a smile.

Tang Su tilted her head. “Fair enough. If those old guys outside had known your identity, they probably would have eaten you alive in the first place.

“After all, who of those old monsters doesn’t desire that great fortune related to becoming an Emperor and an Ancestor in your hands? Just take a look at our fellows here, which one of them doesn’t seem tempted?”

Her remark instantly caused many’s expressions to become unnatural.

It caught them off guard that she would point it out in such a direct way.

“What I’ve found even more surprising is that you, Brother Lin, are actually a disciple of Fangchun Mountain,” sighed Tang Su.

Fangchun Mountain!

The gazes of many people fell upon Lin Xun.

They had all heard that some time ago, right here in the Ancient Immortal Forbidden Zone, Lin Xun had wiped out Kong Zhao and his group of Primordial Dao Court disciples in one go.

Even Heaven and Earth Dao Court’s Huangfu Shaonong and his entourage had suffered heavy casualties, with even Huangfu Shaonong himself being executed, leaving only a few survivors.

Such a gruesome battle record was naturally appalling.

However, what supreme figures like them cared more about was Lin Xun's true identity, and the things he had done!

“Making a scene in the Kunlun Dominion, stepping on the corpses of numerous experts to obtain that supreme fortune, and as such causing the entire nebula to tremble, your name is like the only great sun in the sky.

“In the Dao Debate Assembly, you successively passed challenges and cut down obstacles in a march, taking the life talismans of many worldly talents. And so far, you have not tasted a defeat, and your bravery and momentum are unparalleled.

“Perhaps, only a disciple of Fangchun Mountain could possess such heaven-defying power.”

Such flattering praises had come from All-Demon Dao Court’s Hua Xingli who had long, white hair and a devilishly handsome face. He looked firm, towering, and exceptional, standing there with his hands behind his back.

The lamentation and admiration in his voice made the hearts of the crowd waver with emotions.

Lin Xun glanced at Hua Xingli. “As a disciple of All-Demon Dao Court, shouldn’t you hate me to the bone?”

Hua Xingli shook his head with a chuckle. “You’re referring to Zu Feiyu and his companions who you defeated in the Mythical Huang Secret Realm. I'm not like them, and even though they were my fellow disciples, I don't intend to avenge them.”n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

After a pause, he added, “Of course, don't take this as I'm scared of you. I wouldn’t be standing here if I was.”

“Mhm,” Lin Xun acknowledged his response and didn't say anything else.

“Lin Xun, I once said that if you qualified for the Ancient Immortal Forbidden Zone, then I’d be obliged to a fight anytime should you want it. Those words still stand,” said Ling Hongzhuang of Mythical Huang Dao Court with a sharp gaze.

She was dressed in black. Her hair was confined into a braid that flowed behind her slender figure. Her stunning face was ice-cold, and her aura was solitude and sharp.

Standing next to her was Yan Yurou.

It had been her who had intervened and saved Yan Yurou from being eliminated at Lin Xun's hands in the Mythical Huang Secret Realm.

“You want to fight?” asked Lin Xun.

Ling Hongzhuang replied honestly and straightforwardly, “I don't, but I'm always ready if you do.”

Lin Xun casually said, “Then let’s fight it out when we compete for the chaos treasure.”

Ling Hongzhuang swept her gaze across the crowd around. “At that time, I'm afraid it will be a big, messy battle. You won’t have much of a chance if you want a one-on-one in that situation.”

Lin Xun thought about it and said, “It doesn't matter.”

Ling Hongzhuang stopped there.

Tang Su reminded, “Lin Xun, since you've just arrived, you probably don’t know that only one person will be able to enter the Gate of Ruination.

“This also means that when the time comes, everyone here will fight for that opportunity. A free-for-all scruffle cannot be avoided.”

Lin Xun gazed at the distance, where the tens of thousands of feet tall gate enveloped in mist of destruction stood.

Its interior was filled with countless divine rainbows of coalesced great dao law power, magnificent and dreamy but also mysterious and full of unknowns.

He couldn’t help but say, “How could it be that only one person can enter?”

“I knew you’d ask.” Tang Su pointed at the Gate of Ruination and said, “Two days ago, a peculiar, one-foot-high, pitch black platform once appeared inside. It can ignore the barrier of law power and freely travel through the gate.

“As long as you place yourself on that dao platform, you can be transported into the gate while avoiding being attacked by the great dao law power around.

“All of us tested it and found out that the platform would only stop for one incense stick of time outside the Gate of Ruination and could only accommodate one person.”

Tang Su then asked, “Do you get it now?”

“So that’s how it is.” How could Lin Xun not understand? The platform only allowed one person to gain a foothold, but there were many experts present. Who would willingly give it up?

Tang Su said, “A fight broke out here two days ago. Whoever got on the platform was blasted off within moments. In the end, when it returned inside the Gate of Ruination, not a single person had been able to win that opportunity from the hands of others.”

Lin Xun swept his gaze over the people present, and sure enough, he noticed quite a few with blood stains, as well as injuries on them!

Obviously, this had been left by the battle two days ago.
