Chapter 1032: Pink Diamond

Gu Yang arrived with Feng Jue and Gu Jin, where Cao Cuo had already reserved a private room for them.
In the private room on the second floor of the auction house, Cao Cuo sat holding an orange cat. When they entered, he gestured toward the sofa. “Sit.”
Gu Yang had barely settled when the orange cat in Cao Cuo’s arms lifted its eyes, gracefully jumped onto the table, and landed on her lap. It quickly found a comfortable spot, lounging with its paws folded behind its head.
Cao Cuo glanced at Gu Yang and the cat, a rare smile lighting up his usually melancholic and handsome face.
“Shen Qin will be attending the auction today,” he said.
Cao Cuo, with his spice cultivation center, had dealings with the Luo family and often received inside information.
“Good. I was afraid she might not dare to show up,” Feng Jue scoffed.
Soon, the auction began. Most of the items were antique calligraphy, paintings, and jewelry. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as wealthy patrons from the capital fiercely competed in bidding.
Feng Jue leaned over and softly asked Gu Yang, “Sister, is there anything you like?”
At Feng Jue’s question, both Gu Jin and Cao Cuo turned their attention to Gu Yang.
Gu Yang felt that if she expressed interest in anything, the men around her would immediately bid and present it to her. Shaking her head, she said, “No.”
She had already reviewed the auction list beforehand and found nothing that piqued her interest.
However, when the auctioneer announced a 3.25-carat pink diamond—coincidentally the same weight as her birth date—Feng Jue immediately raised his paddle to bid.
Though the diamond wasn’t the largest, its color, clarity, and cut were exceptional, earning top certification from the International Jewelry Association. The starting price was five million.
Without hesitation, Feng Jue doubled it. “10 million.”
Determined to acquire the diamond, he envisioned it as the centerpiece of the engagement ring he planned to give Gu Yang.
Gu Jin, lounging lazily, raised the bid. “20 million.”n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
Cao Cuo followed suit, raising his card. “30 million.”
The other bidders exchanged glances, their enthusiasm dampened. Although pink diamonds were rare and this one was of top quality, at just over three carats, most felt that 20 million was the reasonable limit—30 million seemed excessive.
Moreover, the three bidders were all in the same private room, making it obvious they were a group. If not for the auction house’s strong reputation and backing from an aristocratic family, some might have suspected them of price manipulation.
Since it wasn’t a scheme, it must be an internal competition.
Just as the crowd assumed no one else would dare bid, Xiao Yize’s voice rang out from the neighboring room. “40 million.”
Feng Jue’s frown deepened. “50 million.”
The auction hall fell silent. Some people began whispering, speculating that only fools—or insiders—would drive the price this high.
For Feng Jue, the pink diamond held sentimental value far beyond its monetary worth.
As the bids escalated, Gu Yang’s eyes twitched. “Do all of you really like pink diamonds? Sure, they’re rare, but Xueyao Jewelry can source them too. I can set some aside for you, so we don’t waste money here.”
Feng Jue was resolute. “I want this one. I’ll use it for your ring.”
Gu Jin and Cao Cuo exchanged cold glances with him.
As they prepared to raise their bids again, Gu Yang quickly intervened. “Alright, calm down! I’ll get you a pink diamond, okay? Let’s stop this now—it’s a waste of money.”
Even with wealth, it seemed pointless to inflate prices just for fun.
Since Gu Yang had spoken, Gu Jin found it childish to continue feuding with Feng Jue and gave a soft nod of agreement.
Cao Cuo lowered his paddle but smiled slyly at Feng Jue, then turned to Gu Yang. “What about him, Yangyang?”
Gu Yang cast a serious look at Feng Jue. “He started the price war, so no diamond for him.”
Both Gu Jin and Cao Cuo were satisfied with the outcome.
Though they had initially wanted to gift the pink diamond to Gu Yang, having her gift one to them felt just as good—especially since Feng Jue would be left empty-handed.
