You were supposed to hoard supplies, why the heck did you hoard zombies!

Chapter 72 Peeking

"Is there any movement on the fourth floor?"

Chen Bingjiang pushed the door open and asked in a deep voice to the middle-aged man sitting in the chair.

The man's name was Zhou Dayong, one of his most capable men.

The surveillance room was under his command.

Upon seeing his boss entering, Zhou Dayong immediately gave up his seat, saying obsequiously,

"Boss, there's no movement at all."

As he spoke, he also pointed to one of the monitors.

On the screen was an office where Xu Lin was talking to several people.

Most likely there had been some conflict among those below, and he was attempting to mediate, but judging by the others' reactions, it wasn't very effective.

Chen Bingjiang glanced at it and let out a cold laugh.

"Ha, he's still the same as before."

"A real Mr. Nice Guy."

He continued speaking while looking at Zhou Dayong. Seeing the fear on the latter's face, he felt a secret pleasure.

Xu Lin ultimately failed to understand this principle.

Nice guys can't be the boss.

"Check what Zheng Youcai is doing now."

Zhou Dayong complied with the instruction, quickly switching the camera to the sixth floor. Soon enough, he found Zheng Youcai's figure.

He was in a store, with about a dozen men seated at the dining tables around him.

The group sat together, clearly discussing something.

After a while, a few of them left, but quickly returned carrying large and small packages.

Weapons, food, medicine, and even a radio.

Zhou Dayong leaned in closer to see what else there was when suddenly the man on the screen looked towards the camera, even smiling and gesturing that they were all set.

He immediately turned to his boss, surprised, "Boss, this..."

Before he could finish, Chen Bingjiang had already ordered, "Da Yong, go call Xiao Long and the others over, and do it fast."

After about fifteen minutes, Chen Bingjiang left the sixth floor with over fifty men.

Spotting people coming down from upstairs, Zhao Quan immediately stepped forward, placing half his body in front of Zheng Youcai.

"Old Zhao, no need to be so nervous."

Zheng Youcai took his hand, pulling him back, an assured smile appearing on his face as he watched the people descending.

Chen Bingjiang actually brought more than fifty people at once?

He really was investing heavily.

Meanwhile, Chen Bingjiang was also scrutinizing the crowd downstairs without any restraint.

They were fewer in number than his group but still roughly thirty people.

Put together, that made eighty people.

It should be enough. Enjoy new stories from empire

Just as the two groups were about to leave, they heard more people coming down from above.

Chen Bingjiang turned his head and saw that it was Xu Lin.

"Yo, Inspector Xu, what brings you down here?"

"Are you joining us on our excursion?"

"You seem a bit short-staffed."

He looked at Xu Lin's few subordinates who were full of fear towards himself, his face etched with mockery.

His own men had already started to gather around.

Xu Lin ignored his words and instead turned to look at Zheng Youcai, with a calm gaze that held a hint of inquiry.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

Zheng Youcai chuckled, his face showing no sign of embarrassment.

"Someone who came back today told me about a good spot outside, so I thought about checking it out with some people."

"We were a bit short on hands, so I called Chen here as well."

"Are you also going, Inspector Xu?"

As he spoke, his gaze swept across the surroundings and saw several zombies slowly approaching, their gaunt figures looking exceptionally elongated in the dim light of the underground parking garage.

"If you're going, then we need to act quickly."

"Otherwise, it'll be too late."

No sooner had the words left his mouth than a zombie rushed toward the crowd behind him.

Even though his men were already prepared, they were still nervous, and for a moment, no one dared to step forward to fight the zombie.

Soon enough, one unfortunate fellow tripped and fell, only to be pinned down by the zombie.

Just when he was about to lose his life, an axe split the zombie's skull.

Zheng Youcai pulled out the axe, kicked the body into a corner, and then led the others toward the cars parked there.

Chen Bingjiang had already gotten into a car with his men.

Xu Lin quietly watched the whole time.

Until the two disappeared.

"Inspector Xu, Zheng and his people, they're clearly joining--"

Little Zhou behind him couldn't hold back any longer. Were they just going to watch those two groups join forces?

And they were obviously heading for something.

It most likely had something to do with Zhang Ye.

But Xu Lin didn't pay him any attention, turning around and heading upstairs without saying a word from beginning to end.

"Inspector Xu!"

"Xu—"

He wanted to say more, but his partners had already hurriedly pulled him to go upstairs.

"Enough, enough, stop shouting!"

"Keep it up and you'll attract all the zombies here—we won't be sticking with you then!"

Little Zhou, hearing this, quickly looked around. It seemed like zombies were indeed moving towards them from the dark corners.

He hesitated for a long time but still followed the others upstairs.

The door at the top of the stairs was locked again.

At the same time, Zheng Youcai and Chen Bingjiang's vehicle convoy had just reached the surface.

The cars in front of the shopping mall were still burning.

Black smoke billowed like a pillar.

The debris scattered from the explosion had nearly covered the entire intersection, completely blocking off the road that stretched for dozens of meters.

To reach the villa district, they had to detour through the side streets.

The sound of more than a dozen cars echoed on the road.

More and more zombies were attracted by the noise, constantly blocking their way forward, making the already congested streets even harder to navigate.

Panic soon set in among people as zombies from all sides converged upon them.

A car crashed directly into a lamppost.

The lamppost fell with the impact, lying across the road, and the sudden event caused several more cars to collide and rear-end each other.

Before the people inside could react, the surrounding zombies had already frantically climbed onto the vehicle, desperately banging their heads and claws against the fragile car windows.

Screams and cries for help soon filled the car radios.

"Don't mind them, keep going."

Chen Bingjiang did not bother to look.

He simply ordered the driver to ignore what was happening behind them and focus on driving.

Having dared to bring so many people out, he had naturally prepared to sacrifice some of them, so this turn of events was entirely expected.

Zheng Youcai driving ahead also had no intention of stopping.

Clearly, he had the same idea.

After leaving behind three or four cars, the convoy quickly departed from there, turned at the upcoming intersection, and headed toward the villa district.

About an hour or so later.

They reached the villa district.

Over a dozen cars quietly stopped by the roadside.

In front of them was a crossroad, with the south and west sides of the villa district lying on either side.

The southern gate of the neighborhood was less than a hundred meters away from here.

They really were here!

Zheng Youcai looked at the Range Rover parked at the gate of the neighborhood, his excitement brimming from the depths of his eyes.
