Isekai Journey Of The Magic Archer

Chapter 970 A battle of Power

[OP: ]

When one talks about who is the strongest person on the human planet, they would say names like The Northern Witch, the Masters of the East, the Weapon masters of the North or the Headmaster.

They would call out big names, and if the context is changed just a little bit, they would call out names like the Mistress of Lakmer, the Grandmaster Creators, and those involved in the actual functioning of the world.

The 'Power' that they talk about in this way could be interpreted as many things.

Raw strength, stats, skills, abilities, powers to do something and the power to Not do something.

It could be anything and depending on the diverse interpretations, they could very well just call being a Child that knows nothing of this world the 'greatest' power there is.

-Boooooooooooooom!

But the people wouldn't understand the abstractness of such concepts.

For them, Power is strength or the Legitimacy given to someone by a power of divine status.

Be it the position of the emperors that had been passed down through generations within a single bloodline, the titles of King granted by the higher powers, the title of Pope that is earned and not handed over, as well as the titles of Masters and Grandmasters that is granted by this very world, these positions or Authorities are backed by an undeniable higher power.

-Ooooooooooooooooong!

With changing points of views, people could understand Power in different ways. But, on a battlefield… there's only one meaning of power— the ability to Kill.

If one can kill something or someone, they have power, if one can survive being killed, they have power, if one can survive being killed and kill the one wanting to kill them instead, they have even greater power.

And, if one has the power to Not kill despite having the Ability to do so, then the Power that they have is much greater, much waster, and much more profound than any other weapon wielder who would kill just because they Could do it.

-Ooooooooooooong…!

Traditionally, thus, there are many rules on the battlefield, spoken and established.

The ones who do follow these rules are called knights.

-Swiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiish!

The ones who find loopholes within these rules are called mages.

-Ooooooooooooooooong!

And the ones who ignore them completely… are called barbarians.

"Ugh…!"

Battles happen every single day in all five of the planets of this solar system that has civilizations.

There are times when the battles also happen between the planets, however, such things aren't encouraged by any of the planets, or the dominant native species of that planet.

-BOOOOOOOOOM!

Within the mortal world, the survival of their species is the main thing that they have to keep in mind since if they are talking about interstellar wars, there are many other enemies that come from beyond the stars, from different worlds, and from a time that they have yet to experience.

-Oooooooooooong!

In all these worlds and all these wars and battles, Power is involved on a deep level.

If one has power, they would survive even the harshest of the battlefield, and walk back home with a star on their chest.

But, not everyone has that kind of power in all of these situations.

Not even the most powerful people of this world…

[{ "Headmaster! We have to restrain-." }]

[{ "Retraining a corrupted creature would mean nothing! We have to limit its movements as much as possible and obliterate it before it goes out of the safety zone!" }]

The headmaster had prepared a lot.

He brought people from all over the world, people that were willing to take part in this operation without anything in return.

They had prepared for days, they were ready for all kinds of events, but, what they ultimately faced was no army of beasts, no extra cultists that they had initially missed, nor was there anything aside from the obvious summons that they were already going to fight.

Quantitatively, they were fighting even less danger than they had initially planned for, but comparatively, they were actually getting pushed by a single being that the Cultists had somehow successfully corrupted at the cost of their own lives…

[{ "We will just focus on destroying this thing first! Focus on your attacks, everyone!" }]

The Thing that they were fighting was an Energy beast that lived off of natural energy in swarms.

They were nasty and ugly creatures and they were usually only a (Blue) ranked beasts no taller than three metres.

Though… sometimes, there are anomalies.

And the one that was fighting most of them right now, was one such anomaly.

"GHWAAAAAAAAAA…!"

A twenty one metre high creature… A Giant.

Previously made of mud, dirt, and natural fluids, the creature that was summoned initially was simply a creature that was a little bigger than the most.

It was only as strong as a (Purple) ranked creature, a being that was initially confused why it was summoned there, however, after summoning this poor creature from wherever it had come from… they did something unexpected.

There were twelve of them, and all twelve of them dug a strange dagger right into their hearts while encircling the creature that was previously calm.

Then, all the energy that was present in their bodies, the dark demonic energy that was still in its pure form, seeped out of their bodies and gathered into the creature that was simply confused by what was going on around it.

They had perceived the pureness in that creature, but by the time the headmaster could create a barrier around the creature, a strange process that even he could not interfere in had begun.

"To think a simple use of equivalent exchange could produce such monstrosity."

As the spectators, Eon, Elle, Cradle, and even Zodiac felt relieved that they weren't on that battlefield right now.

They knew if they were there, then they would have died a while back already since the battlefield that they all had thought to be a simple wasteland, had now turned into a dark marshland.

The creature that was forcefully introduced to demonic energy could not handle it and started changing.

It could not keep its sanity while it was being corrupted by the demonic energy and lost itself in the high of the Power that it glimpsed through whatever Those cultists had done to it.

And, though it did not want to accept it, it was a simple creature. Not someone with a mental fortitude similar to Eon's or Elle's.

It was a simple being compared to the rest of the things that were around it, so… it couldn't help it.

It succumbed to the demonic energy and became corrupted with it… ultimately turning into something that was dangerous enough to hold its own against not one or two, but a few dozen of the people that someone would consider as 'very strong' in any part of this world.

-Oooooooooooooooooooong!

Magic resistance so high not even (tier-8) spells did any damage to it.

-Swiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiish!

Physical attacks didn't even work on it, not even after using Aura of some of the most destructive nature out there.

The Headmaster had no choice but to use his authority along with (tier-9) spells, the knights had no choice but to use their own world authorities, and the witches present there had to resort to their witchcraft.

They were facing a single creature that was so big someone from faraway might also see it, they were fighting a creature that had fallen to the demonic power, and a being that itself was using something only a few of the people there were capable of…

"A domain is not fair on a monster of such scale either."

The entire area around him had turned into a swarm, and it was affecting even the people who had spent half of their lives in such sticky conditions.

The creature was a Swamp Thing, a corrupted one possessing demonic powers on top of that, so it had more abilities than what it used to have when it appeared there.

The debuffs that just a simple touch of its mud cast on all those powerful people was dangerous, they were almost dying at the countless hands that were produced by this being, and not even the headmaster was having it easy against this.

"Still though…"

They weren't losing right now.

As Eon and the rest could tell, they weren't on a losing end.

They were being pushed by that calamity, they were fighting it off and keeping it contained within a set area to minimise demonic energy's spread as much as possible.

After a few minutes of fighting, they had also realised keeping it restricted and observing it for a little longer like some of them wanted wasn't going to be possible.

Especially with that field around…

They knew it was a difficult thing, so they were using their actual Powers way ahead of the schedule.

[{ "This was a mistake from my end." }]

The bitterness that the headmaster was feeling at the moment was so intense he questioned whether he had experienced such emotions anytime in his life.

He did not like how they just took their own lives, but that much he had expected already… summoning a being that could hold its own against such barrage of attacks though, wasn't something even he had foreseen.

"I thought it would take at least half a day…"

Headmaster couldn't use a (tier-10) spell on the island since he was prohibited from doing so, therefore, he used the second most powerful thing that he possessed.

"But who would have thought he would even bring out his armament?"

The magic wand that was part of his being… the crystal wand of Nature, the [Proof] of his Freedom.

"He's crazy, alright."

"Definitely."

"Well…"

For the rest of them, this was going to be a memorable moment, but for Eon… this was going to be an experience.

Seeing the actual power of a Soul Armament… he was going to get a glimpse of what Ronna might also be capable of through this unique moment.

[{ "Let's end this one first, everyone…" }]

The situation right now was still very tense, but there was a unique excitement in Eon's eyes right now.

Though unexpected, along with the powers of all those important people, he… all of them were also going to witness something they might not be able to in the near future.

[{ *It's gorgeous.* }]n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

And he couldn't hide his excited smile because of that.
