Chapter 98 Chapter 74 Chasing the Killer in Japan

98  Chapter 74 Chasing the Killer in Japan

Yan Fei had no idea what was happening in the distant land of Africa; he was engrossed in healing his wounds.

Ignoring the verbal sparring, Yan Fei silently prepared for his next move. Having narrowly escaped a major setback, he was not about to let the matter rest. The Oogawa Family had overreached, and he intended to make them pay a price.

To know his enemy, Yan Fei started having the Auxiliary Brain gather intelligence on the Oogawa Family from the Internet. As more data was collected, Yan Fei's understanding of the Oogawa Family grew, and he was quietly shocked at their scope and reach.

The Oogawa Family was an ancient Japanese lineage. Though not as visibly prominent as the newer families that had emerged in recent years, they possessed deep historical roots. The Oogawa Family spanned the realms of politics, military, finance, and education in Japan—they were a true top-tier family. Preferring not to flaunt their status, they kept a low profile, often extending their control over Japanese enterprises through financial maneuvers and building their commercial empire. Their discretion meant that the Oogawa Family was less famous than those frequently in the public eye, yet they wielded astounding resources and influence in Japan, as evidenced by their ability to commandeer a Maritime Self-Defense Force submarine to transport their operatives.

However, as Japan's overall economy weakened, the Oogawa Family showed signs of decline, which is why the younger generation out on international experience sought to steal technologies from various nations to restore the Oogawa Family's prestige. This is also why, when they recognized the immense potential in Yan Fei's Weight Loss Cookies, they immediately sent subordinates to abduct him.

In this abduction attempt, the Oogawa Family not only dispatched their top expert, but also mobilized the Red Dragon Submarine of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force for transportation. In the end, for the sake of security, they even employed airborne laser weapons still in the experimental stage. All these measures made Yan Fei acutely aware of the Oogawa Family's formidable influence and control within Japan.

Despite the Oogawa Family's great strength, Yan Fei didn't take them to heart, knowing he wouldn't be foolish enough to confront such a behemoth head-on. He had his own distinct advantages. And so, while quietly recuperating and gathering intelligence, Yan Fei awaited the full recovery of his Spiritual Soul. Once healed, he would set out for Japan to execute his revenge plan against the Oogawa Family.

Twenty days later, Yan Fei's Spiritual Soul finally regained normalcy, the persistent sensation of weakness from being torn apart dissipated entirely. This ordeal with the Drone Avatar causing Yan Fei's Divine Soul Tearing made him aware of many things he had previously overlooked, leading to a deeper understanding and appreciation of his own power. While his absolute power had not increased further, his strength had significantly enhanced, no longer comparable to his former self.

Another ten days passed, and Yan Fei tuned his body to its optimal condition, his strength at its peak, ready for action. He informed Lu Pingping that he was contemplating some issues and needed to rest at home for a while; during this time, he didn't want contact with anyone to avoid interrupting his thoughts, and told her she could handle Company matters on her own.

Having arranged his work affairs, Yan Fei made some setups in his home to prevent intrusions. Then, on a dark and windy night, he altered his appearance, disguised himself, and quietly boarded a roll-on/roll-off ship bound for Tokyo from Shanghai Port, hiding in the lower deck as the ship set off for Japan.

Beneath the roll-on/roll-off ship, a Drone clung to the bottom, maintaining the same speed towards Japan, matching the vessel. Yan Fei's primary objective in going to Japan was to take vengeance on the Oogawa Family by slaying the masterminds Ryoko Oogawa and Jo Oogawa; hence, he did not dare enter Japan through conventional means such as planes or ferries, opting instead to smuggle himself in.

As Yan Fei hid aboard the roll-on/roll-off ship, he utilized his terrifying auditory skills to avoid the crew members. When hungry, he consumed food prepared in Universal Space; when tired, he slept; when bored, he read books. The four-day journey passed quickly, and the ship arrived at the Port of Tokyo, Japan's largest port. Yan Fei stayed inside the ship without taking action, waiting until nightfall before leaving the vessel, jumping into the sea, and swimming to a secluded area of the Port of Tokyo to officially smuggle himself into Japan.

Once in Japan, Yan Fei changed into clean clothes prepared in Universal Space, and walked out of the port. He transformed his appearance once more, applying makeup to look like an ordinary middle-aged man. Looking in the mirror, seeing no flaws, he hailed a taxi at the roadside and headed to the Tokyo Suburbs.

Before coming to Japan, Yan Fei had used the Auxiliary Brain to rent an apartment in Tokyo Suburbs through an international housing service website, providing forged photos and information. The agency had secured him a room for a one-month lease in the Tokyo Suburbs, which would serve as his base of operations during his stay in Japan.

Yan Fei arrived at the house he had rented via taxi. It was located in the Arakawa District in the northeastern suburbs of Tokyo. The building had two floors, with ten rooms on each, all connected. He had rented one of the rooms—a small studio less than thirty square meters but fully equipped for immediate occupancy.

His Knowledge Infusion-acquired Japanese language skills were put to use. Without exaggeration, he was now the most proficient Japanese speaker in the world, even capable of speaking the different dialects from all regions of Japan, conducting conversations without any flaws. After presenting his forged documents, he easily received the keys to the house from the Administrator and moved in successfully.

The rooms to the left and right of Yan Fei's apartment were also rented out, but the identities of the tenants were unknown. However, Yan Fei was not concerned with his neighbors; he was merely a passerby who neither wanted to be noticed nor to take notice of others' lives.

Yan Fei settled into the rental room and first surveyed his surroundings. Seeing nothing unusual, he immediately activated the Drone Avatar lying in wait at the bottom of Tokyo Bay. Using the quantum radar of the Drone Avatar, he located a free WIFI near the port. After connecting to the free WIFI, he began to enter Japan's internet network and collect data. Nôv(el)B\\jnn

His main purpose in coming to Japan was to take down Ryoko Oogawa and Jo Oogawa. These two had used the spies of the Igawa Family to steal the manufacturing process of his weight loss cookies. Although it hadn't caused any substantial harm to him, they had successfully angered Yan Fei.

What's more, when these two found that the stolen manufacturing process was incorrect, they even thought of kidnapping Lu Pingping and Yan Fei, touching Yan Fei's reverse scale. Later, due to their actions, the situation escalated, resulting in the complete destruction of the drone for the first time, which injured Yan Fei's Divine Soul, almost leading to his capture by Hideo Oogawa.

All this had infuriated Yan Fei, so these two Japanese were bound to die this time. Had it not been for Yan Fei's injured Spiritual Soul preventing him from taking action earlier, he would have already killed them in China rather than letting them escape back to Japan scot-free.

In China, Ryoko Oogawa and Jo Oogawa were somewhat low-key, not many people were aware of their existence. But in Japan, they were quite well-known, as they were the direct descendants of the Oogawa Family. The entertainment paparazzi were still very interested in them. As soon as Yan Fei logged onto the internet, he found news about Jo Oogawa—a gossip report that claimed Jo Oogawa had been frequenting nightclubs with young idol beauties, and he had even been caught on camera by the paparazzi carelessly.

With this report, Yan Fei immediately traced Jo Oogawa's whereabouts, saving him the trouble of running around aimlessly to find the man. That evening, he made his way to the reported nightclub in downtown Tokyo, as marked on the map. Indeed, he discovered several young and beautiful idol girls here, but Jo Oogawa was nowhere to be seen.

However, Yan Fei was not discouraged. He came back the next day to continue his stakeout, but still with no luck. On the third night, though, he finally spotted Jo Oogawa appearing at the nightclub, accompanied by a young and beautiful high-quality lady.

Yan Fei had completely altered his appearance to look like an ordinary middle-aged man, so Jo Oogawa didn't notice his presence at all. Even though Yan Fei had seen Jo Oogawa, he didn't make a move right away. Instead, he sipped his drink while keeping an eye on Jo Oogawa's movements.

Maybe it was his failure in China that had affected him, Jo Oogawa no longer had his erstwhile calm demeanor and appeared somewhat reckless and dissipated, giving off an air of a man who had nothing to lose. He was flirting with the beauty by his side and consuming alcohol and cigarettes non-stop, spewing filthy language—a clear sign that his experience in China had led him to seek thrills in the nightclub.

It wasn't until one o'clock in the morning that a drunken Jo Oogawa stood up to leave, taking the girl with him from the nightclub.

Yan Fei followed them out and saw Jo Oogawa take a phone call outside the nightclub. After yelling a few loud words, he angrily hung up and separated from the young beautiful woman, who gave him a dissatisfied look. Then he took a taxi alone and left.

Yan Fei also hailed a taxi, instructing the driver to closely follow the one Jo Oogawa had taken. The driver initially wanted to refuse, but upon seeing the stack of large bills Yan Fei handed over, he promptly stopped fussing and drove off closely behind, without Yan Fei having to push him.

The taxi carrying Jo Oogawa drove leisurely eastward for over an hour. Yan Fei checked the map and discovered they had left downtown Tokyo. The taxi continued to a small residential area nearby, where Jo Oogawa's taxi finally stopped. Jo Oogawa got out, walked around a bend, and in a place where no one else was around, he urinated by a roadside tree.

Yan Fei's taxi also stopped at a distance. He paid the fare, got out of the taxi, and followed Jo Oogawa. He intended to strike and kill Jo Oogawa right away, but unfamiliar with Japan and despite having the Auxiliary Brain's help, it was difficult to find where the Oogawa Family's Lair was located. So, after a moment's hesitation, he didn't initiate the attack but instead followed Jo Oogawa, hoping to first find the address of the Oogawa Family.

Jo Oogawa arrived at a luxurious bungalow in the front, knocked, and waited. Then the door opened, and he entered.

Yan Fei took a quick look around, noticing no surveillance cameras. He approached the bungalow swiftly, peeking through the window. Inside he saw a large room that seemed to be a research center of sorts, filled with machines whose functions were not immediately apparent. There were young men and women busily working, and standing next to them was a woman Yan Fei was all too familiar with—Ryoko Oogawa, one of the targets of his mission.
